I spend quite a time in understanding Gurbani.A question that often comes to my mind and that sangat should answer is as follows:

1.Is it better to spend time in understanding bani or to do simran/meditation .?

Also kindly explain the methods like saas saas .sas gras and other jugat stated in the Granth sahib ji.

Thanks for guidance.

The main teaching of Granth sahib is to be a Nice and humble human being and gives lot of importance to the Naam. This can be obtained by constant practice and abhyaaas. This is totally missing so far as I am concerned.

It is also in gurbani that this abhyaas leads to cleaning of Haume from mind. It is also noted that we have to make a balance between the two.

Kindly guide the jugti stated in the Granth sahib for jap/simran/meditation.

I shall be very grateful.

Mahraj says :

PRABH KA SIMRAN SANH TE UCHA

i mean that u should do ur Nitnem, read bani, listen to katha but also spend about an hour every morning doing smiran coz it brings peace to the mind and soul......itz jus like feeding ur soul i guess.

Would I be wrong in saying that in the beginning, simran is more important as with simran, one can develop pyar for Waheguru? Once a person has pyar, then the desire to do nitnem grows, which is important because in order to progress spiritually both are equally important.

Perhaps i'm wrong though, I'm just saying how i started
