Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask, when you get married two souls become one right? So if the husband does extra bani and simran, is it shared between them? And if say the singhni is not doing much does it affect the singh?

I am confused!

Also i do not have a screen name so thought i would write it in the gupt section. Moderators you can put it in the general section if you like.

I have heard that one Gurmukh with an extremely high Avastha (many state is near Brahm Gyan) has said that a husband and wife will give Lekha for their deeds together in Dharam Rai's court.

Isn't there a line, "Karmi apno apni"?

I can't remember the shabad, but I think Guru Ji also says something like, when we die, no one (friends, family) goes with us. Meaning ultimately these connections with people are nothing. If it would help, I could spend alittle while searching for that specific one.

Salok.

Shalok:

Pavaṇ gurū pāṇī piṯā māṯā ḏẖaraṯ mahaṯ.

Air is the Guru, Water is the Father, and Earth is the Great Mother of all.

Ḏivas rāṯ ḏuė ḏāī ḏāiā kẖėlai sagal jagaṯ.

Day and night are the two nurses, in whose lap all the world is at play.

Cẖangāīā buriāīā vācẖai ḏẖaram haḏūr.

Good deeds and bad deeds-the record is read out in the Presence of the Lord of Dharma.

Karmī āpo āpṇī kė nėṛai kė ḏūr.

According to their own actions, some are drawn closer, and some are driven farther away.

Jinī nām ḏẖiāiā gaė maskaṯ gẖāl.

Those who have meditated on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and departed after having worked by the sweat of their brows -

Nānak ṯė mukẖ ujlė kėṯī cẖẖutī nāl. ||1||

O Nanak, their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord, and many are saved along with them! ||1||

Does this mean that if I were to do simran in order for my sister to benefit, this could not happen?

Yes it does benefit ur sister if u pray for her.. let me put it this way:

You work hard all day and at night you come home and make ur self 2 roti's u sit down to eat and sumone knocks on ur door and asks for something to eat, u being a sikh offer him food so you give him 1 of ur roti's. Now you only have 1 left to eat.. so yes when u do paat for ur sister u reep the benefits but half that goes to ur sister =].

Its jus like banni says that blessed are those parents who gave bith to saints and blessed is his/her whole family

..so when u do paat, every1 around u benefits
