I am going in business sector as i have joined a business school in (MBA)IT-Networking this year. I have seen/heard that in business people tend to speak lie and hide negative things about their products. I have been seeing ads on TV where reputed companies only tell good side of product and hide the negative effects.

Is it right to ignore and hide the negativities from people?(I have no business background.)

- Suppose i know that my competitor's product is better than mine, even then I(or company where i will work) promote(or marketing) my product's positivity (and not negativity) much more than my competitor's.

- Company(in which i will work) saves taxes by using tricks and i know about this habit of the company. Many companies do like this.

In cases like above, a GUILTY feeling comes in me that I am fooling(hiding/lying) the innocent people.

I am Amritdhari Sikh from Chandigarh,Punjab,India. How can I OVERCOME the GUILTY FEELINGS which come now and then.

Plz Plz PLz clear my doubts.......its very important for my career....I am just 23 yrs old

Business is all about lying and cheating govt and consumers. But think it this way, you are not directly invloved in lying. You are only doing what you are told to do, you are obeying your employers orders who pays you. So, your loyalty is first towards your employer and then towards the consumer.

You will come across an ancient bussiness law "let the buyer beware" . This is the first thing taught in bussiness schools. A seller is not bound to disclose any negative part about the thing he is selling, it is the buyers responsiblity to judge by his own merits. This is also the law of nature.

You will not be cheating but following company policy , why should you feel guilty about it.

"I am Amritdhari Sikh" So it is important to Do your work honestly, this is an integral part of kirt karna.

You don't have to lie to promote your product, just emphasize the positives, i personally would be honest about the negatives if they ask.

you don't work for your competitor, so market your own company and not your competitors.

As for saving on taxes, there are numerous legal tricks to save on taxes. so long as you're not doing any wrong, i wouldn't worry about it.

if this arrangement of earning an honest living didn't work for me at that company, than i would find employement elsewhere as soon as possible, and then leave that company afterwards. either way, i would be honest in my dealings with people, both b/c i wear sikhi roop and b/c it's hukam.

It really hekped me, especially these two thoughts:

- "let the buyer beware"

- This is also the law of nature.

coz nature also has positivies and negativities and its all upto us to be aware of its dangers(negativities).

_scorpio1234,

Fateh.

They say quantity always follows quality. In fact I think in business if you are truthful you tend to be more successful.

Please stay away from Office Politics as its just ninda and chugli ( criticism and back biting).

One more thing try to be positive. I feel successful businessmen are positive people.

And please keep this adage in mind: Jhoote ka mooh kaala aur sachche ka boll baala (the perosn who lies his or her face is blackened and the person who is truthful is respected)
