Sangat Ji I was just wondering, I know Ranjit Singh Ji Dhadrianwale does katha, but when he is actually singing kirtan, he doesn't do it the way typical ragi's do. Also instead of a tabula, someone is playing a dhol, and the way the chimta's are played are kinda different.

Is this a specific style of kirtan, and does it have a name?

does things like this really matter? : )

theres a sakhi, where gurujee puts rice on a cloth and calls 2 dogs, instead of seeing the rice, the dogs are fighting with each other..... so they have forgotten the most important thing...in this case its forgetting what exactley is being said, .....like their katha etc.... and how that persuades ppl to take amrit and keep rehit. :)

and yeh, its a specific style of kirtan, not too sure of what u call it lol, but many mahapurkhs did it this way in the past.

it's called Dharna. Sant Baba Ishar Singh made this popluar amongst sikhs as it is a very simple se of instruemnts etc. Very basic and drives the point home.

also refering to Ranjit Singh without then title " Bhai, Sant or Giani ,Gurmukh" etc is not wise. His sewa is immense for the panth at this time.

dharna kirtan was actually started by sant baba attar singh mastuwana sahib wale, but it was more in the lime light when sant baba isher singh ji rara sahib wale wer around, there are sum speeches of sant jarnail singh ji wer they also sing dharna during ther speech.

people get mistaken and say it is kachi bani and so and so, when u hear dhadi vaara sung on stage do you call that kachi baani? when kavisher sing on stage is that kachi bani?.... sum mahapuraks actually do sing lines from gurbani and sumtimes they sing the meaning and arth of bani. there is no such thing as kachi bani.

why do we ask soo many questions? :gg: :p

To learn. If you really don't feel like answering, then please don't reply because the people who actually want to learn, get annoyed when others say, "Does it really matter?". The hunger for knowledge should never be stifled.
