These are all so vaheguru...... lets contemplate on these

Kabeer, the sinner does not like devotion to the Lord; he does not

appreciate worship.

The fly abandons the sandalwood tree, and goes after the rotten smell.

||68||

------------------

Here the rotten smell would be the many false pleasures you have during the day? This quote is so beautiful.... try to contemplate on it for about a minute.. so u can remember it all the time

------------------

Kabeer, the pitcher is full of water; it will break, today or tomorrow.

Those who do not remember their Guru, shall be plundered on the way. ||73||

Kabeer, I am the Lord's dog; Moti is my name.

There is a chain around my neck; wherever I am pulled, I go. ||74||

-----------------

Kabeer, take your drum and beat it for ten days.

Life is like people meeting on a boat on a river; they shall not meet

again. ||80||

------------------

the last line

Life is like people meeting on a boat on a river; they shall not meet

again. ||80||

its so very true... not to be forgetten, give up ur attachments if you want to cross the river

-----------------------------

Kabeer, will anyone set fire to his home

and kill his five sons (the five thieves) to remain lovingly attached to

the Lord? ||83||

Kabeer, will anyone burn his own body?

The people are blind - they do not know, although Kabeer continues to shout

at them. ||84||

Kabeer, the fish is in the shallow water; the fisherman has cast his net.

You shall not escape this little pool; think about returning to the ocean.

||49||

Kabeer, do not leave the ocean, even if it is very salty.

If you poke around searching from puddle to puddle, no one will call you

smart. ||50||

Kabeer, those who have no guru are washed away. No one can help them.

Be meek and humble; whatever happens is what the Creator Lord does. ||51||

Kabeer, even the dog of a devotee is good, while the mother of the

faithless cynic is bad.

The dog hears the Praises of the Lord's Name, while the other is engaged in

sin. ||52||

Fifth Mehl:

mehlaa 5.

Pain does not even approach that person, within whose mind God abides.

jis man vasai paarbarahm nikat na aavai peer.

Hunger and thirst do not affect him, and the Messenger of Death does not approach him. ||3||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:

salok mehlaa 5.

Blind inwardly, and blind outwardly, he sings falsely, falsely.

andrahu annaa baahrahu annaa koorhee koorhee gaavai.

He washes his body, and draws ritual marks on it, and totally runs after wealth.

dayhee Dhovai chakar banaa-ay maa-i-aa no baho Dhaavai.

But the filth of his egotism is not removed from within, and over and over again, he comes and goes in reincarnation.

andar mail na utrai ha-umai fir fir aavai jaavai.

Engulfed in sleep, and tormented by frustrated <admin-profanity filter activated> desire, he chants the Lord`s Name with his mouth.

neeNd vi-aapi-aa kaam santaapi-aa mukhahu har har kahaavai.

He is called a Vaishnav, but he is bound to deeds of egotism; by threshing only husks, what rewards can be obtained?

baisno naam karam ha-o jugtaa tuh kutay ki-aa fal paavai.

Sitting among the swans, the crane does not become one of them; sitting there, he keeps staring at the fish.

hansaa vich baithaa bag na ban-ee nit baithaa machhee no taar laavai.

And when the gathering of swans looks and sees, they realize that they can never form an alliance with the crane.

jaa hans sabhaa veechaar kar daykhan taa bagaa naal jorh kaday na aavai.

The swans peck at the diamonds and pearls, while the crane chases after frogs.

hansaa heeraa motee chugnaa bag dadaa bhaalan jaavai.

The poor crane flies away, so that his secret will not be exposed.

udri-aa vaychaaraa bagulaa mat hovai manj lakhaavai.

Whatever the Lord attaches one to, to that he is attached. Who is to blame, when the Lord will

s it so?

jit ko laa-i-aa <admin-profanity filter activated> hee laagaa kis dos dichai jaa har ayvai bhaavai.

The True Guru is the lake, overflowing with pearls. One who meets the True Guru obtains them.

satgur sarvar ratnee bharpooray jis paraapat so paavai.

The Sikh-swans gather at the lake, according to the Will of the True Guru.

sikh hans sarvar ikthay ho-ay satgur kai hukmaavai.

The lake is filled with the wealth of these jewels and pearls; they are spent and consumed, but they never run out.

ratan padaarath maanak sarvar bharpooray khaa-ay kharach rahay tot na aavai.

The swan never leaves the lake; such is the Pleasure of the Creator`s Will.

sarvar hans door na ho-ee kartay ayvai bhaavai.

O servant Nanak, one who has such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead - that Sikh comes to the Guru.

jan naanak jis dai mastak bhaag Dhur likhi-aa so sikh guroo peh aavai.

He saves himself, and saves all his generations as well; he emancipates the whole world. ||1||

aap tari-aa kutamb sabh taaray sabhaa sarisat chhadaavai. ||1||

that reminded me of this tuk by Guru Arjan Dev Ji

The lowly nim tree, growing near the sandalwood tree, becomes just like the sandalwood tree.

But the bamboo tree, also growing near it, does not pick up its fragrance; it is too tall and proud. ||5||

* * *

Be a lowly nim tree (ego-less) and grow near the sandalwood tree (saadh sangat) and become like the sandalwood tree (saintly person), dont be a bamboo tree (hankaari) and obstruct yourself from the fragrance. :umm:

This Shabad is by Bhagat Kabeer Ji in Raag Gond on Pannaa 870

kabeer jee ghar 1

Kabeer Jee, First House:

ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

sa(n)th milai kishh suneeai keheeai ||

When you meet a Saint, talk to him and listen.

milai asa(n)th masatt kar reheeai ||1||

Meeting with an unsaintly person, just remain silent. ||1||

baabaa bolanaa kiaa keheeai ||

O father, if I speak, what words should I utter?

jaisae raam naam rav reheeai ||1|| rehaao ||

Speak such words, by which you may remain absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

sa(n)than sio bolae oupakaaree ||

Speaking with the Saints, one becomes generous.

moorakh sio bolae jhakh maaree ||2||

To speak with a fool is to babble uselessly. ||2||

bolath bolath badtehi bikaaraa ||

By speaking and only speaking, corruption only increases.

bin bolae kiaa karehi beechaaraa ||3||

If I do not speak, what can the poor wretch do? ||3||

kahu kabeer shhooshhaa ghatt bolai ||

Says Kabeer, the empty pitcher makes noise,

bhariaa hoe s kabahu n ddolai ||4||1||

but that which is full makes no sound. ||4||1||

>

-----------------

Does the empty pitcher refer to those who have no knowledge - therefore empty - and talk a lot... and the full pitcher refers to people who do have giaan but don't talk unnecessarily?

"Does the empty pitcher refer to those who have no knowledge - therefore empty - and talk a lot... and the full pitcher refers to people who do have giaan but don't talk unnecessarily?"

Jee, thats what it is ... empty (nothin .. no knowledge) ... and full (filled with knowledge)

even in Anand Sahib there is a line saying

Bahut nahi bolna

not to speak too much

I really liked this line...

Meeting with an unsaintly person, just remain silent. ||1||

This are all gems that we should absorb, If Waheguru wills they will become a part of our life :umm:
