i wanted to knw the best way to clean a sarabloh sri sahib

Try a fine emery paper or sand paper, or just sand. Oil it after you dry it.

get dry sand add a small amount of fresh lemon juice to it so that the sand is quite damp.......then add this lump of sand to wire wool or brillo pad and in this way scrub the blade

if there's alot of rust...boil some water and pour sufficient amount of lemon juice & citric acid, then place the sri sahib in the water for a couple of hours...then clean with steel wool

This way the rust comes off with little effort

Just use Autosol. You can get it from any half decent car spares place.

Avoid sand/ wire wool/ lemon juice/ sandpaper for good quality shastars - these will spoil the patina and leave horrible scratches.

I've had great success with two products:

1. Brilliant Metal Restorer

2. Renaissance wax

(Google these names)

Use the metal restorer to remove rust and polish up, then use the wax to put a protective coat on the shastar. Do not store shastar in the miyans as humidity builds up - store out of the miyans when not being carried about. If cared for then the shastar will not need re-coating for a year.

The Renaissance wax is a particularly good product and was developed for the British Museum to use for their exhibition pieces in the 1950s.

no please do not use any chemicals on shaster as there is maryada on cleaning shasters. use just sand . (ps i use sand to clean shasters and karas : firstly its kinda fun and you feeel happy when you see it so shiny at the end.

sand works fine. but make sure u oil it after ur done washing it. the oil prevents it from rusting.
