for children try some of these maybe

1- Sikhs believe that there is one God who is the father of everyone, and so everyone are brothers and sisters

2- Sikh people believe that when you die, if you were a good person you go to live with God, but if not then you will come back here and try again

3- Sikhs do not cut their hair because it is a gift from their father God and it is their for the same reason that we have arms and legs from God.

4- as part of the Sikh religion, Sikhs learn about the world, nature and other people to help them to understand the world and live in peace

5- Sikhs have long hair because they have not cut it, because we do not chop any part of our bodies off, this just seems silly, nobody would chop an arm or leg off

6- Sikhs believe that the life after death is where we meet God and he decides whether we have been good or bad. if we were good then we go to live with him, and if we were bad then we come back to earth to try again

1. What do Sikhs believe in?

Ik Ongangkar

Ik means ONE.

Ongangkar means God's Creation which is beyond counting and that is why the 'Urah' is left open.

So only ONE thing exists. God 'in' his creation. God is everything.

2. What do Sikh people believe about death?

Souls never die. They are like energy which cannot be destroyed or created.

It is our body that experiences death.

3. Why is it important that you don't/aren't allowed to cut your hair?

Hair are a living entity. They are alive. Well, if you pull out a hair. It will hurt you. You will feel pain. So if hair were dead you wouldn't feel this pain because dead things don't feel pain. Since hair are alive, they do feel pain. Thats why we shouldn't cut them. We shouldn't 'murder' them.

Baba Attar Singh Ji once said, "a person who cuts its hair, is actually pricking Maharaj Ji or their SATGURU with needles".

4. What do you do as part of your religion?

Ji, Sikhism is not a religion. It is a way of life. A way of life.

To be a Sikh means to be a discipline. How can being a discipline be a religion?

5. Why do Sikh men have long hair?

They have long hair because they respect God's 'Hukam' or command. If God has given them long hair that means God must love long hair. So instead of playing around with his creation. Sikhs accept his command and maintain their bodies as God has created them.

6. Do you believe in life after death?

Sikhs believe to be dead while they are living. That means to have their soul take control over their bodies instead of the mind.

Soul is the 'jyot' or a light of GOD. It is God itself. The mind is the 'evil' that likes to wonder around and be involved in the worldly life.

To be dead while living means to not practice worldly life. Means to recite his Naam and merge into him while you are alive.

Further, when our soul leaves our body, it is either received by Angels (devtas) or Death Demons (Jam Doots). Angels come to receive the soul if it has committed good deeds by not listening to the mind and have recited God's Naam while it was in its Human Body. Demons come to receive the soul if it has committed the worst things imagined, i.e. never remembered God, ruined its beauty by doing drugs or drinking alcohol, or if the soul listened to the mind and committed bad to others.

Nehmat Phaji is has written a much more accurate and respectable answer than mine, mine is watered down to a level that i think western kids could relate to.

Ji, accuracy is maintained by Maharaj Ji. I only attempted to answer a few questions. :)
