Kirpa and Kirpan

How/why/when do you do kirpa on someone with a Kirpan?

I heard in a katha about the 5 k's that u do kirpa on someone wen there in trouble. :T:

Can anyone explain this in more depth and possibly back up with quotes.

I heard a Katha on the meaning of the word in which Kirpan wasw split up into two words: Kirpa and Aan. Kirpa means mercy, as in the mercy a Sikh can bestow on the oppressed, the weak and the defenseless. Aan means dignity, as in the dignity a Sikh can retain by defending their self against any unrelenting threat.

Did you know that the word KIRPAN doesn't even get a mention in the Guru Granth Sahib ?

How can anyone than, do any 'kirpa' with it ?

ABSOLUTELY IT MATTERS

If the combined writings of OUR GURUS is encompassed in the Guru Granth Sahib, and the Tenth Guru categorically stated that after His Passing 'Only The Guru Granth Sahib' must be listened, read, remembered, consulted, taught, obeyed, practised and honoured (to name a few), then why are Sikhs/Singhs commiting anything to something (kirpan) that doesn't even get a mention in the Guru Granth Sahib ?
