Hi All,

I am a Banjara sikh from Andhra Pradesh. I guess you all know that SIKHISM is very popular in Banjara community and there are many Banjara Sikhs you can find in South India.

One of the main concentrated Banjara sikh base in south india is maharasthra and also in many regions of Andhra Pradesh one can find many Banjara Sikhs.

Many Banjara Sikhs face a problem that they dont know Punjabi. I am also a little weak in Punjabi. But i am never ashamed when people say "you dont know Punjabi" I reply to them as " I know Waheguru. I know the Guru's Preechings. I am a Sikh and it doesn't change the reality that I am a Sikh- A son of WAHEGURU".

I would appreciate if one can start a thread for us brothers where we can learn Punjabi and never face a situation.

Hope everyone understands my feelings.

Most famous South Indian Sikh is one of the Panj Pyaras, Bhai Saheb Singh - who was a Kannada speaker - his mother's name was Ankamma - Sikhism does not belong to any race or region but all humanity!

I was on an assignement from my company and lived in Nellore district of Andhra pradesh, 80 miles from Madras.

I have seen quite a few banjara sikhs doing trade on motor cycles. They tie a small piece of cloth round their head

and their features are similar to Punjabis.

VP Naik was chief minister of Maharashatra and he was highly respected one for his contribution in building Maharashtra

in 1960s. He was also a banjara. He said in a speech that his father used to take him to Hazur sahib every year on Dussehra

when he was a child.

Famous cricketing family of aG Ram Singh was from Madras. His sons Kirpal singh, Milkha singh and satvinder singh also were

test cricketers. They spoke tamil.

I tell you one thing that people of south are very nice as a person. They are simple and truthful lacking cunning attitude.

I enjoyed my stay there.
