500 Protester Rush Sikh Temple in Canada to stop Mann Singh Pehowa Event!

Chanting and waving placards, approximately 500 protesters got what they wanted tonight (Thursday) as they stopped a controversial figure from speaking at the Sikh temple on Blueridge Drive.

Maan Singh Pehowa has been accused of numerous criminal acts in India, and protestors turned out in force to prevent him from addressing the public at the Kalgidhar Khalsa Darbar Temple.

Vehicles attempting to get down Blueridge could barely move as they attempted to negotiate numerous people who had spilled onto the street.

Pehowa arrived at the temple as part of a convoy at 7:45 p.m., and was already in the building by the time hundreds of angry protestors rushed through the doors, chanting his name and demanding he leave.

The crowd pushed themselves up a stairwell as they made their way towards the area in which they believed Pehowa would be speaking.

However, he did not make any kind of appearance.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., the public was told that Pehowa would not speak and would vacate the temple. The crowd was then asked to leave the building peacefully, or run the risk of arrest from the team of assembled Abbotsford Police officers

At approximately 9:30 p.m., with many protestors still waiting for him outside, Pehowa was ushered out of the opposite side of the building by his entourage and into a waiting SUV.

Controversy and protests have followed Pehowa, during his attempts to speak in cities in North America and other parts of the world.

Hundreds of people crowded an Abbotsford, B.C., temple Thursday evening to protest a performance by a controversial high priest.

Baba Mann Singh Pehowa, a priest who has faced allegations of rape in India, was supposed to sing at the Kalghidar Sikh temple, but he never made it to the microphone.

An estimated 500 protesters rushed the temple.

Police officers were on scene working to control the crowd.

Pehowa waited inside the temple, and was eventually given a police escort out of Abbotsford.

In addition to being accused of rape in India, it is also alleged he has committed blasphemous acts in the Sikh religion, such as having people bow down to him.

Pehowa has faced similar protests during visits to Australia and the United States.

Also their are rumors saying Abbotsford Police wore shoes and did not cover their heads while upstairs in the Gudwara- they had no idea about Sikh customs and corrected the situation upon learning about the rules in Sikh temples by covering their heads

and did the protesters follow Maryada at all times? they were mainly monay & those with affiliation to specific jathay that hated him even before "alleged acts". carrying placards saying "Murdabad" and creating a disturbance at GuruGhar is something to cheer about? did they do so inside in Mahraj Hazoori? nice..

a Mona shouting Kuthaa at GuruGhar is always something to applaud..

what a moment to savour & record for all our viewing pleasure..

maybe for the next "Pelt-A-Stone-At-A-Saadh-Day" protesters can pick either jaikara or swearing rather than both?

i suppose at least some non-Sikhs in the form of Police got to learn about Sikhi & Sikh protocols as they may have visited GuruGhar for the first time - great PR work

none of the so called protestors had any respect for Guru Ji when they came into the Gurdwara ranting and raving.....after all the arguements Sant Baba Mann Singh said they felt it best for them to leave as it was disrespectful to Guru Granth Sahib Ji that this was happening in their presence but nobody else cared for Guru Ji's respect.

All those that had problems were asked to speak about it privately in a seperate room but no-one agreed........again i wonder why??

Anyone with half a brain cell and any pyare for Sikhi knows that this is all bulls**t, the Akaal Thakt (supreme aurthority for Sikhs) have cleared Baba Ji but we are still so stupid to see it.

There is no evidence anywhere to prove anything, we all know this same issue has been going round and round in circles for the past 5 years.

Please let me tell you Baba Ji is in Chardi Kala, the only thing the nindak people had left to hang onto was that Baba Ji would never visit Canada.....but not only have Baba Ji continued to tour every other country, they came to Canada as promised. All the hype about how they would get arrested, returned at the airport, taken to court has now also been proven to be a load of rubbish and certain people cannot toloerate the Chardi Kala.

We all know there is no issue, we have all heard the same stories for the past 5 years, and yet not a single court not, not a single case, not a single arrest has taken place....please ask yourself why...well it seems clear a simple attempt to defame Baba Ji has failed and wil continue to fail.

One day those who under the influence of alcohol and drugs have the shame to enter a gurdwara and stop sikhi parchaar will have to account for their actions and it is then such actions will be punished for.

Please read the commens posted on the abby news website, and just sit back and understand that people are not stupid they have the knowledge and understanding to quite cleary see that there is no issue, however all the propganda is a simple attempt to defame Baba Ji.

wow, no offense but in my opinion of many of the members of this forum have noted that the quality of this forum recently has been driven down greatly by the ignorance of the members.

Its been a while since iv even visited this site, and i was hoping that mature and constructive debating would have changed my thoughts, but low and behold the same old antics.

this forum is great a great source for sikhs/learners to reach out together and share information but saying generalized statements like 'mone' negatively just hurts the whole point of this forum which is to help people that arnt into sikhi to adopt it.

In addition, logging onto your little forums ranting an complaining over things like the 'mona' said this, the 'mona' said that isnt going to change the fact that your sitting on your arse at home while this 'mona' is at the gurdwara partaking in something he believes and the best part is he isnt hiding behind no username or computer screen.

i believe you entitled to your own opinion if you dont like what he did good for you, if you dont like what the 500 protesters did thats cool too.

but the fact is generalising the protest to a crowd full of 'mone' isnt going to change the fact that these 'mone' saved ur arse and protected the arse of ur family during 84.

sorry if im mistaken but i dont think i see any of you "singhs/singhnia" having anything to do with 84 other than making a few blogs and websites?

im not saying singhs/singhnia dont do anything im just saying some of us need to let go of our ego and understand that there is god in all of us and if it takes a fake sant for some of us to realize it then the rest of us shouldnt pick on that.

before i leave, id like to say those who criticize what the protesters did and believe that phowa was right why dont/didnt you just go there and listen/be part of the sangat? if i support someone or if i hear a real sant is coming this goes for any sikh we rush to go meet and greet them. as far as i could see the only people there for him was a couple of drivers. if u like to voice the fact that the protesters were wrong than make the effort to at least be there.
