Guest Help...

Hi,

I just needed a little help, I have decided to read more into sikhism. I have done some research and there are three scriptures, dasam granth, guru granth, and adi granth.

Are these the main ones? are there more?

and I want to be able to read the scripture in the following format

first line - gurmukhi

second line - the above line in english e.g. 'ek onkar etc..'

third line - English translation e.g. one universal creator god... etc.

obviously it doesn't have to be in this order :)

thanks.

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, vaheguru ji ki fateh!

Adi Granth was an earlier version of Sri Guru Granth Sahib compiled by Guru Arjan Dev jee, later it was completed by Guru Gobind Singh jee, but usually the both names refer to Sri Guru Granth Sahib. There are also Bhai Gurdaas jee's vaars that give explanations to Sri Guru Granth Sahib (it's like the "key" to Sri Guru Granth Sahib) and it also describes lifestyle of Gursikhs.

Here are some links that i've found useful:

download Sikhitothemax II software from http://www.sikhitothemax.com

the style of translitteration (=the second line) they use is not especially clear, but otherwise it's great (it has all the scriptures). The website is nice too (i like the "random shabad" button at the top corner).

And another good one is: http://www.srigranth.org

You may have to download some fonts too to see the Gurmukhi script.

Ask if you need more help! :)

i would say searchgurbani...it has Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Dasam Granth, and Bhai Gurdas Vaara for all your Gursikh needs.

Adi Granth is the earlier version of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and it doesnt contain the banis of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, so Adi Granth is Sri Guru Granth Sahib

Dasam Granth is the Bani of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and its seperate frm Guru Granth Sahib Ji....Sri Guru Granth=Guru

Then there is Sarbloh Granth also written by Guru Gobind Singh...dont know 2 much about this one but im sure u can google it or sumthing
