Chocolates With Egg In The Gurdwara

Gurfateh,

Just a quick one here. I've been to a few Gurdwara where they are give sweets/chocolates as Parsaad. I think its nice that the children can enjoy them or something to relate to, and yes I end up having some too lol. But some of them have egg contents as you probably know. I've taken them away from there and told someone, but I feel people need to be educated or as least have a list of what they can have or cant.

Anyone have any suggestions?

This is one of the most ignored 'beadbis of maryada' that exists in UK Gurdwaras today.

It doesn't register with the Sangat (who in general do not follow any khaan peen maryada) that distributing egg based and geletine sweets as parshad within our Guru Ghars is a blatant neglect of GurSikh maryada.

We wouldn't put an egg in the Degh or distribute chicken wings in the Sukha Parshaad. Why do we all of sudden loose the same level of committment when it comes to chocolates and sweets.

And the dozy prabhandak committees....don't get me started on them.....
