Anti Banda Singh Bahadur Views

Recommended Posts

Banda Singh Bahadur created no separate sect or he declare himself guru. Its all misconceptions created by Tatt Khalsa and their followers. Banda Singh used to write as "Banda - e - Khalsa" or Banda - e - Guru" which means Banda of Khalsa or Banda of Guru.

Like we write "Nishan -e- Sikhi" which means Nishans of Sikhs, "Tavarikh - e- Hindustan" Tavarikh (date) of Hindustan, same as Banda Singh used to write, which was misinterpreted by Tatt Khalsa and made a hue & cry of nothing. Coz of thier misconceptions, a great leader like Banda Singh was mis understood. Its not necessary that what the quoted writers have written is only the truth, you need to understand the language also.

Sikhs having knowledge of sikh history know that baba banda singh Bahadar had deviated from sikh principles to some extent. He ahd introduced " Fateh Darshan" instead of Waheguru ji khalsa , waheguru ji ki fateh.

Because of such acts Tat khalsa parted with him.

That is hard truth. people need to read history before writing fairy tales punctuated with nonsensical words.

BANDAI,

Posted in Biographical - Sikh Political figures

icon-small.gif

BANDAI, name given to the followers of the Sikh hero, Banda Singh Bahadur (1670-1716), who regarded him not only as a military leader but also as Guru next to Guru Gobind Singh in spiritual succession. They were opposed and ultimately expelled in 1721 by the mainstream of the Sikhs, the Tatt Khalsa. A small number of Bandai Sikhs still survive. They reverence the Guru Granfh Sahib as their Scripture and most of them also undergo the Khalsa initiatory rites, but Banda Singh Bahadur is for them their eleventh Guru against the common Sikh belief of the spiritual line having ended with Guru Gobind Singh, the Tenth Master.

Here is a summary of Banda as per O P Ralhan in 'The great Gurus of Sikhs'.

There is no doubt that Banda became a disciple of Guru Gobind Singh, but he was not baptised according to his new ceremony of administering pahul. It appears that the Guru did so deliberately for certain reasons.

1. Banda was already known as Guru in Maharashtra and he commanded a large following. The Guru didnot want to enhance Banda's prestige as a religious leader of the Sikhs.

2. He was over-active and over–energetic (Bara-Tejdhari) , both in wordly life as well as in spiritual domain. The Guru was fully familiar with the role of the Masands. He has abolished that institution, and was prepared to create another masandso aggressive and powerful as Banda.

3. By making him a regular Sikh, the Guru feared lest he might claim Guruship in course of time. Without baptism the Khalsa would not accept him as the Guru. This actually happened. Ratan Singh Bhangu and Santokh Singh write later on Banda declared himself Guru, and the Khalsa rejected his claim. They insisted on his getting baptised and taking meat diet.

Bhai Santokh Singh in Suraj Granth says "He was not in accord with the Khalsa. Without the Gurus approval he started his own sect. He did not take Baptism of the dagger. He did not adopt the Sikh way of life (keeping 5 k's). He did not ea tmeat and drink wine and wear black clothes"

Gian Singh also says the Guru did not baptise him. KhazanSingh is of the view that "although Banda became his disciple the Guru did not deem it advisable to initiate him with pahul". He further observes : "the Guru selected and deputed Banda Bahadur, not as a successor and leader of the Khalsa, but as an avenging agent without admitting him into the Khalsa order with the usual initiation of Amrit baptism".

Kartar Singh Kalaswala says "that the Guru presented Banda at the time of his departure to Panjab with his own special dagger which he always wore around his neck. At this his Khalsa shouted "We will never allow a non-Khalsa to have it. We will sacrifice ourlives after killing him." Further he says Banda "was neither a baptised Sikh nor a sehajdhari".

Karam Singh, the well known Sikh historian, declares that "although Banda had come within the Sikh fold ,he had no time for taking Amrit".

4. Had banda been baptised, he would have never changed the Guru's salutuion from Wahgurji ka Khalsa Wahguruji ki Fateh to Fateh Darshan.

5. In case of him being a regular Sikh, a schism would not have taken place among his followers into Tatva Khalsa and Bandai Sikhs.

6. There are no contemporary or near contemporary sources to establish the fact that Banda had been baptised. All sources quoted in support of this assertion are one hundered years or more later.

Read the sources that are given by the person who wrote about Bandai khalsa.

Have you got any source in support of your claim. If so give it here.

Not only he introduced fateh darshan , he also indulged in looting in his later days.

Giani gian singh's twarikh Guru khalsa states it in no uncertain terms.

His followers mired sikhs into bloody internal fights right inside Harmandir sahib.

where his main supporetr from Khem karan was killed by tat Khalsa.

It is a common knowledge that detracors of sikhs eulogise banda bahadar at the cost of

tat Khalsa.

Let us not twist sikh history for our agendas.

Isnt it ironic that while on one hand we are fighting for Khalsa Raj, the 2 people who have established Raj in the past (Baba Banda Bahadur and Raja Ranjit Singh) are both viewed as being "not perfect" ?

ranjit singh was not same as banda bahadar. One need to visit dera of banda bahadar in J and K to see their practices

and decide how far they are from mainstream sikhism.

History of bandai khalsa and their leadership

http://en.wikipedia....ar_Singh_Nibber

Martyrdom of Banda Bahadur

During siege of the Lohgarh fort of Banda Bahadur by Mughal forces in 1716, the Sikhs got bifurcated into two divisions: the Bandai Khalsa and the Tat Khalsa whereby the Tat Khalsa parted ways leaving Lohgarh to be defended by the Bandai Khalsa alone. After a long siege, Banda was arrested by Abdus Samad Khan along with his many followers and escorted to Delhi, chained in a cage. On June 9, 1716 he was barbarously executed along with hundreds of Sikhs and became a hallowed martyr in Sikh history.

[edit] Baba Amar Singh becomes the Bandai Chief

After the martyrdom of Banda Bahadur, Baba Amar Singh had assumed the supreme leadership of the Bandai Khalsa faction.[7]

[edit] Feud among two Panthic war-factions continues

After the Lohgarh incidence, the friction between the two Panthic factions continued unabated and at times, there had also occurred minor scuffles between the two.

In 1721, Baba Binod Singh Trehan of the Tat Khalsa sent an invitation to the entire Sikh community all over the Punjab to gather at Amritsar on Diwali day. The two factions met at Amritsar and each asserted its claim as being the true heir to Guru Gobind Singh and the Harimandir Sahib. Things looked gloomy for the Sikhs, since both military factions readied themselves for a showdown to assert their individual claims. The dangerous situation was averted at the Diwali occasion by the timely intervention of the Sikh Sangats (Congregations) but both factions continued to entertain anger and ill-will against each other.

[edit] Bhai Mani Singh appointed as Arbitrator

Mata Sundari, the widow of Guru Gobind, came to learn of the trouble brewing between the two military factions at Amritsar. She appointed Bhai Mani Singh as the Granthi of the Harimandir and sent him to Amritsar with Kirpal Singh (Chand), the maternal uncle of Guru Gobind Singh to resolve the feud. The choice on Bhai Mani Singh seems to have fallen for intrinsic reasons also since Bhai Mani Singh, like Baba Baba Amar Singh was of Kamboj lineage and it was therefore hoped that he could better convince Baba Amar Singh and bring him to concilliation in the broader interests of the Khalsa Panth.

[edit] The feud resolved but......

After assuming office of the Head-Granthi in 1721, Bhai Mani Singh sent invitations to both parties to assemble on the Vaisakhi occasion. Both factions again met at Amritsar in compliance of the invitation from Bhai Mani Singh but with all the malice in their minds set against each other. At Amritsar, the Tat Khalsa took unilateral control of the Akal Bunga while the Jhanda Bunga was taken over by the Bandai Khalsa led by Baba Amar Singh.

Using a simplistic but well-intentioned procedure, Bhai Mani Singh was finally able to resolve the feud and restore peace among the warring factions and put the affairs of the Darbar Sahib in order in 1722. The final decision was that the Tat Khalsa was declared the genuine successor to Guru Gobind Singh and the Harimandir Sahib.

[edit] Death

Both parties expressed their agreement and satisfaction over the decision taken by Bhai Mani Singh and the Bandai Khalsa followers of Baba Amar Singh went to join the Tat Khalsa but unexpectedly, at the last moment, trouble flared up and a deadly showdown took place in the very Parikrama of the Harimandir Sahib. Warriors from both sides unsheathed their swords and started to wield them fiercely and relentlessly against their own brethren with all the detachment of a professional soldier. There was great pandemonium and tumult in the Harimandir Prikarma in front of the Akal Takht and many were killed. The war scenes are described in very vivid and full graphic details in the Panth Prakash by Gyani Gyan Singh [8].

Baba Amar Singh wielded his double-edged sword relentlessly and after having slain numerous adversaries, finally, fell dead.

The following verse describes the death of Baba Amar Singh:

tad sudhasar that darshani darwaze agey Jang |Mach gayo masurmedh ka dhar veech keech surang ||kar sees pag bhuj bakh sabal hath majh asaar|chad gayee luthain pe luthain kaat marey jawaan apaar |Jab jujh dharani pai paryo Singh Amar anekan maar ||Bhag gaye turat Bhandai leeni fateh Singhan maar[9]

[edit] Legacy

Baba Amar Singh was not the first Sikh who died at the hands of fellow Sikhs due to intra-Panthic differences. The phenomenon had been in existence since the time of the Gurus. However, the gory clash which occurred at the Harimandir's Parikrama between the Bandai and the Tat Khalsa would be replicated in the future as schisms would arise in the community and sometimes lead to deadly showdowns as the one involving Baba Amar Singh.

GPS you have lost the plot bro ! I can only feel sorry for you. May Maharaj give you some sense. Thats all i will say. Waheguru.

Only talks but no reference. I admire Band Bahadar for his servcie to khalsa panth. But you cann't ignore the fact that he had divided

khalsa panth. may be distortion in sikhi of Guru sahib does not matter for hinduised sikhs who glorify Band bahadar's errors the cost

of mainstream sikhism. Many call him Beer bairagi and pride to portray him as Bairagi Hindu sadhu.

If you have something up your sleeve to disprove what i write show me. Do not show me a OP Ralhan's view point .That is not credible.

Interestingly, just before the BJP chief spoke, Akal Takht Jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh, had warned the community against "distortions in the history" showing Banda Singh Bahadur in bad light and present him in the 'bairagi (ascetic) 'swaroop' instead of the Amritdhari Sikh that he had become.

He warned not to project Banda as Bairagi sadhu. Take some elementary lessons in sikh history.

That is what fanatic hindus and their hirelings tell about banda bahadar. Those who condemn tat khasla fall in the same category.

It is a form of subtle propaganda.

Give reference for what you say. Otehrwise it is your personal opinion.may be bhai santokh singh is right when he says

that he did not adopt sikh lifestyle. His dera in J and k is more follower of hinduism than sikhism. But that does not mean that he was not

a baptized sikh. These practices might have creeped in later.

Khalsa will not support anyone who is not baptized.Guru kian sakhian state that he was baptized.

Guru sahib did not make him a dictator of sikhs.he was sent under patronage of five sikhs who were trusted

by Guru sahib.

His fall came in later days when he started ignoring them and formed his cult.

It is a shame that right wing hindus take pleasue in distorting sikh history to their end

like protraying Bhai mati Das and band asingh bahadr as Hindus.Their sikh agents remain busy

to furtehr their view point by subtle propaganda.
