On The Right Track...?

I'm currently 16 years of age, turning 17 soon, and I have been reading and hearing about some of the spiritual experiences many practicing Sikhs have had, and I was wondering whether I was on the right track to getting these experiences happen to me as well. Currently, I'm allowed to wake up at Amrit Vela and do either Panj Baniya, listen to kirtan, or Naam Simran for about an hour, and before going to bed, listen to kirtan for about 20 minutes. My question is whether I should really attempt to incorporate more Paath in my routine, and how much Paath at my age did you guys on this forum do?

What an excellent question-- my 2 cents- continue with chardi kala, incorporate paat whereveve you can but most important of all is "Sikhee sikhaa Gur vichaar"- listen to vichaars from the likes of Maskeen jee, dwell deeply on them apply in life. You will get tested all the way, and most including me do fail, but we must get up and be ready and accept as a test always, progress further.

One of the best ways is to start Sehaj paat of SGGS listening or reading yourself and then doing and listening to vichaars, it's the most wonderful experience in the world.

For sure, I'll attempt to listen to more vichaars. The ones by Giani Sant Singh Muskeen are difficult for me to understand though, but I will look for english vichaars. Thanks :)

its good what your doing...

try n forget bout what other people are doing and have had experiance wise, beacuse guru sahib will giv u their kirpa-drist. if you think bout what others have, it becomes a rakaavat in your bhagti because you start to set youself standatrd... its good to have standards ti start of with tho... but this can so eaisly turn into eerkha - jelosy, or laalach/lobh - greed. so i would say to you, dont try n push somthing that cant reely be pushed.. so at your own pace, it all will come... i no im saying this, but i am very impatient in general! but it is fact that trying too hard is also not needed..

let it happen on its own, and instead of concentrating on getting further, say, that>god, im nothing, whatever you want for me, im happy with that< this is one of the highest ardasses. - though ther is no high or low ardaas.

and lastly,

miq ivic rqn jvwhr mwixk jy iek gur kI isK suxI ]

math vich rathan javaahar maanik jae eik gur kee sikh sunee ||

Within the mind are gems, jewels and rubies, if you listen to the Guru's Teachings, even once.

gurw iek dyih buJweI ]

guraa eik dhaehi bujhaaee ||

The Guru has given me this one understanding:

sBnw jIAw kw ieku dwqw so mY ivsir n jweI ]6]

sabhanaa jeeaa kaa eik dhaathaa so mai visar n jaaee ||6||

there is only the One, the Giver of all souls. May I never forget Him! ||6||

... there is a beauty inside yourself, in your mind, inside your mun.. do we reely want to push it anyway?? id wana stay in the blis for ever! :)
