Dudley - Mainstream Media Questions Regarding The Protest On 28 May 2011

We really need to get our side of the story out to the media. The Sikh image is being destroyed in the UK and non Sikhs (those who call themselves SIkh, but in fact do not practice) are using the whole anti-Islamic formula on Sikhs and it goes down a treat with the Brits.

I wrote to the express and star yesterday but we need to show the world who the real villains are. Its a pity the history of this has all but been forgotten and these scum bags are using this violence to their fullest. They wont tell the media any background leading to this.

Can I make a little request? Can I ask that we stop using this phrase that we have picked up from Indian law and the Indian media, especially from Sikh groups based in Punjab....the phrase : 'hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community'. Its a silly phrase and is not one that western minds either understand nor sypathise with as it conjures up images of immature children who have delicate fragile sentiments that get easily hurt. We honestly do ourselves no favours when we use that phrase.

Yes, exactly right.

waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh!

Good work satkaar campaign! Its good that you have condoned violence that took place. As you have stated, majority

of protest and protesters were peaceful.

For next protest I would like to suggest that a meeting should take prior to protest. In the meeting elder gursikhs should

give guidance on the protest protocal, especially to younger protesters.

Next time even if we are provoked, we should remain steadfast and continue reciting gurbani. Lets not give media, or

sadly our own community, a chance to attack us. If we can achieve victory through peaceful means, the campaign will

gain more respect. I hope we learn the lesson from this event, the media and even our own community will use any

opportunity to label amritdhari sikhs as militants, extremists etc.

Let's not give them a chance! Maharaj kirpa karo! Give us the ability to achieve victory through peaceful means.

Keep up the good work! May Akal Purakh give you blessing to achieve victory in future (hopefully committee

members wake up and realise it is wrong to serve meat and alcohol on gurdwara premises!)

I think they could go a step further and have a zero tolerance policy regarding violence and ban any members who are known trouble makers/have a propensity for violence. People who do sewa by attending satkar campaign protests can expect lots of provocation from opposing parties and the police, so it takes a certain kind of individual to attend the protest and keep it peaceful despite the provocation. The consequences of not keeping up this level of discipline are dire for both the campaign and the wider community.

I was one of the people who broke into the centre in the first wave that lasted 5 minutes. As I ran in my adrenalin was pumping, the police somewhere behind us and I wanted to make a point to the committee that if you have the balls to put up chairs and tables for meat and sharaab, I have the balls to knock your tables and chairs down. THAT'S IT..

I was standing in the middle of the room, shocked to see a man bleeding, to hear a kitchen being ransacked and in shame walked towards the fire door and was escorted out by the police.

I am not saying what I did was correct but within our protest we had some members hell bent on REAL SUFFERING. To me that was not we stand for but maybe in out history we have acted in such ways when such things are occurring in our centers?

I think we need to remember that this war is just as much a mental struggle as physical. We have to fight with our brains on this one, not with fists as we will lose each time. We have the power to destroy police forces, we have the power of lions and that was seen. We are a ferocious beast but this was not the day to unleash such anger.

^ You sound like a man just making things up Rupik. No saying you definately did just make that whole thing up but if I was gonna make things up thats probably what i'd sound like. Not saying anything against you personally but it has to be said....you're really not very good at making things up.

Maybe that's because im not making things up.

I personally think your a undercover committee member, nothing personal against you its just if I ever met a undercover committee member he would sound like you. Btw your not a very good undercover committee member!

Get a life!

    • the whole 'your husband/wife is chosen for you'/sanjog thing is real, it's just that a lot of people end up marrying the wrong person. they did not end up with the person that was meant for them. my friend, you should marry someone who you feel a connection with and love. there are millions of sikh girls, i'm sure you can find someone who aligns with your sensibilities and who you can truthfully say that you love. sikhi does not say anything against love marriages. you can also be in a loveless arranged marriage which is a safe option b/c both families are more inclined to keep the union intact. i was one of those people who was like meh, i guess i'll just get arranged to some sikh. well i finally started dating for the first time this year and i'm getting married to someone that i love and cannot even imagine leaving. i think it's better to have lost & lost than never loved at all. unfortunately, a lot of people confuse love w/ looks & lust. a lot of men go for the fittest girl they can find and think they won the jackpot or something. in reality, your partner should be like an extremely loved best friend. there's a reason why it's a fact that the most stable and long-lasting relationships started as friendships.  i also think a lot of women are petty and divorce over small reasons, but there's other terrible things like high cheating rates as well. that's why the divorce rate in the west is high. be careful out there.
    • andrew tate praises sikhi too & likes sikhs. his brother also donated to sikh families iirc. they just like any "alpha" religion and tbh islam is the most "alpha" in their eyes. islam is very good at promoting that image. but imo a real alpha man doesn't command respect by beating up his wive(s) or forcing them to wear a burqa. a real man will have his woman listen to him w/o raising a hand or his voice, and command respect by being respectful. he leads by example and integrity. that's true masculinity. you get the idea. + yes, it's definitely true that islam is growing rapidly and making massive inroads. strength in numbers + belief will do that. but rlly it's just because of the birth rate. a lot of them are muslim b/c it's their "identity" just like how a lot of young sikhs will say they're "culturally sikh" or whatever. there just aren't billions of sikhs who lambast their identity everywhere and have strict and linear rules like in islam. besides, the reality is that islam and its followers are some of the most morally bankrupt. you can see all the weird trans rules in iran, bacche baazi in afghanistan, visiting brothels, watching p*rn, p*dophilia what goes on behind the scenes in countries like uae & qatar, etc, and come to your conclusions. you can google all the stats yourself and see which countries do the most of these ^.
    • stop associating with hinduism, that's the absolutely worst thing you can do as a sikh. not sure if you noticed but the entire world looks down upon and spits at india & hindus, literally no one respects them and considers them weak and cowardly. literally 1+ billion of them but not perceived as a strong religion commandeering respect.
    • you wrote a whole lot but told us nothing. what exactly did you do wrong to make you feel this way?
