LUCKNOW: Twenty years after a case of staged shootout, a CBI court in Ghaziabad on Thursday held 17 policemen guilty and sentenced 16 of them to life imprisonment, making it perhaps the largest number of cops convicted for life at one go in the country. They were convicted of killing an alleged Sikh militant, Jaivender Singh Jasna of Amritsar, in a fake encounter in 1992.

One of them was given a seven-year sentence. All 17 were fined Rs 5,000 each.

Jasna, a "sewadar" (worker) at Gurdwara Rakabganj in New Delhi, was gunned down by a team of 17 policemen in Bardpur, Bijnore, on October 31, 1992.

What evidence is there he was a "militant" ?

Or was he gunned down by 17 cops purely for being a sewadar at the Gurdwara ?

The amount of police that shot dead innocent people, then put a gun in their hand and rang the media for police PR is unreal. The journalists are as complicit as the police.

This is so true (Satbuchan)!

It has been proven that Police Stations were given significant budget increases for every Sikh they killed!

To make matters worse the central government only loaned the budget increase, for killing a Sikh! So it was away of making 'Punjab' kill it's own innocent citizens, with the use of human rights violators like KPS Gill, Beant, and Sharma, and then getting the Punjab to pay for the reward given to the murdering policeman/police station who killed the innocent Sikh under the command of KPS Gill, Beant and O P Sharma. Not only would Punjab have to pay for the Murder of the innocent Sikh, it would have to pay for the contract killing money and reward, and interest on the financial reward given to the murdering policeman (human rights violators)!

This budgeting with interest is still being paid for today! All activities for killing innocent Sikhs were financed by charging the Punjab (remaining SIkhs in Punjab) with high interest loans. Punjab's economy and deficit has never recovered from the loan it had to pick up for 1984 and it's aftermath i.e. the central government's mission to kill innocent Sikhs!! We need to get Punjab off it's knees!
