Btw any plans that Sikh Channel will launch in USA??

I think Sikh Channel would need to be sure that it is going to get full support in America for this to happen. It would be nice if the Direct Debits were set up before it actually opened i.e. the funds were raised and made ready in America before Sikh Channel launched there. It would be nice to see things operate the way they should i.e. Siikhs and their funds chase the Sikh Channel. Rather than the Sikh Channel chasing the Sikhs for funds.

I think the Sikhs in America are powerful, rich, and succesful enough to make this happen!!!

The idea that jathebandian and our big UK gurdwaras will support Sikh Channel is wishful thinking. The Sikh Federation broke its links with the Sikh Channel during the Dastaar Day issue. So you wont see any support from them or from any of the gurudwaras it controls/influences.

As for the UK gurudwara's, Southall made a complaint to Ofcom last year when Sohi's party claimed they were not given enough air-time during the gurudwara elections. So instead of helping or sorting things out by talking to the Sikh Channel they decided to involve Ofcom. This means lots of time and money have to be spent in preparing and presenting your case to Ofcom.

This is how much support you will get for a truly panthic channel. Its biggest problem is its independence. Jathebandian want a channel to work under their control. They do not like the fact that Sikh Channel is not aligned to any jathebandi but prides itself as the Peoples Channel. So most of its support comes from individuals not groups.

The channel may have survived the suspension order, but they are nowhere near the target it needs to make it safe and secure.

I think its everybodies duty to keep the channel running. Just look at how its programming has changed since the Bhai Rajoana issue. The interview with Bibi Hardish Kaur last night at 10.30pm was very painful. She saw her 3 brothers, husband and son killed before her eyes in the Delhi massacre.

The Sikh Channel has given a voice to the forgotten and the injustice. Lets support it so it helps raise the awareness.

I think good ideas have been put forward already about taking laptops to gurudwara's and getting sangat to set up DD's.

Good Point!

I wonder how any jathabandi or Gurdwara members that stop a panthic channel from fighting for justice for the families of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj will ever face getting the darshan of Guru Ji. What do these members, of any Jathabandi or Gurdwara, think will happen to them when they die if they are helping the rapist and murderers who Sikh Channel are trying to expose. If you stop anyone fighting for justice you are helping the person who committed the injustice - FACT!

I hope those people, calling themselves Sikhs, who work against the Sikh Channel, of the Sikhs, really ask themselves how will Guru Ji reward them!!

Justice will only come through Media !

Had it not been for the Dastaar Day campaign and Sikh Channel standing up to all the oppostion, which is what ultimately drove all the so-called panthic leaders away from supporitng the Sikh Channel. We may not have had the turban story on the BBC tonight.

Had we believed all those who said it was a waste of time to stand outside Parliament Sq. we may not have had the publicity to the interest about the dastaar.

Reading the intro of tonights programme The Story Of The Turban on the BBC website it states

"In September 2011, Sikhs from all over Britain gathered in Parliament Square to protest. The focus of their concern was the turban........"

Whether the BBC programme provides a balanced view or not remains to be seen but at least it means the Sikh Channel is trying its best with the limited resources it has to get the sikh voice heard.

Angrez, I never thought of it like that... our media is changing the world's media. Yet another reason why we should support the Sikh Channel financially.

In addition to the Dastaar Day there are so many things the Sikh Channel has done! It's obvious we all love the Sikh Channel - lets just hope we all start to support it.

    • If relationship with Guru is strong, then kanga is done twice a day, and turban should never be taken off or put on like a hat, there is a lot wrong with that as it is against rehit! maryada is to take off every layer of turban/pagh/dumalla individually, and tie fresh turban each time!
    • the whole 'your husband/wife is chosen for you'/sanjog thing is real, it's just that a lot of people end up marrying the wrong person. they did not end up with the person that was meant for them. my friend, you should marry someone who you feel a connection with and love. there are millions of sikh girls, i'm sure you can find someone who aligns with your sensibilities and who you can truthfully say that you love. sikhi does not say anything against love marriages. you can also be in a loveless arranged marriage which is a safe option b/c both families are more inclined to keep the union intact. i was one of those people who was like meh, i guess i'll just get arranged to some sikh. well i finally started dating for the first time this year and i'm getting married to someone that i love and cannot even imagine leaving. i think it's better to have lost & lost than never loved at all. unfortunately, a lot of people confuse love w/ looks & lust. a lot of men go for the fittest girl they can find and think they won the jackpot or something. in reality, your partner should be like an extremely loved best friend. there's a reason why it's a fact that the most stable and long-lasting relationships started as friendships.  i also think a lot of women are petty and divorce over small reasons, but there's other terrible things like high cheating rates as well. that's why the divorce rate in the west is high. be careful out there.
    • andrew tate praises sikhi too & likes sikhs. his brother also donated to sikh families iirc. they just like any "alpha" religion and tbh islam is the most "alpha" in their eyes. islam is very good at promoting that image. but imo a real alpha man doesn't command respect by beating up his wive(s) or forcing them to wear a burqa. a real man will have his woman listen to him w/o raising a hand or his voice, and command respect by being respectful. he leads by example and integrity. that's true masculinity. you get the idea. + yes, it's definitely true that islam is growing rapidly and making massive inroads. strength in numbers + belief will do that. but rlly it's just because of the birth rate. a lot of them are muslim b/c it's their "identity" just like how a lot of young sikhs will say they're "culturally sikh" or whatever. there just aren't billions of sikhs who lambast their identity everywhere and have strict and linear rules like in islam. besides, the reality is that islam and its followers are some of the most morally bankrupt. you can see all the weird trans rules in iran, bacche baazi in afghanistan, visiting brothels, watching p*rn, p*dophilia what goes on behind the scenes in countries like uae & qatar, etc, and come to your conclusions. you can google all the stats yourself and see which countries do the most of these ^.
    • stop associating with hinduism, that's the absolutely worst thing you can do as a sikh. not sure if you noticed but the entire world looks down upon and spits at india & hindus, literally no one respects them and considers them weak and cowardly. literally 1+ billion of them but not perceived as a strong religion commandeering respect.
    • you wrote a whole lot but told us nothing. what exactly did you do wrong to make you feel this way?
