Many Panthic Singhs(Bhai Ajnala, Mann, Daduwal, Bittu etc) from all over Punjab were also arrested during the strike relating to Bhai Rajoana a few months ago in Punjab. At the time, even Wassan Singh Zafferwal was arrested even though he is no longer active in Sikh affairs. These men were picked up by the police for no reason. The excuse the police gave was that it is a preventive measure. Many of us may not know this, the Punjab government is very active in keeping intelligence in Punjab. I have a relative who is a sarpanch in a village near Amritsar, he tells me that every now and then, he will receive phone calls from the CID asking him info about certain people in the village who are potentially Panthic minded.

Surprisingly when Panthic Singhs from all over Punjab were picked up during the Rajoana strike a few months ago, it is worth noting that Baba Harnam Singh Dhuma and some other prominent Sants(Baba Hari Singh Randhawa) who have links with the Akalis were not arrested, while Panthic Sants like Daduwal were arrested and let go only after Singhs cooled down.

The approach by the Punjab Govt at the behest of the Indian central Govt and agencies is to wear down the Panthic minded Sikhs by repeated harrassment. This has had the effect of putting most of the Punjab population off Panthic matters as they feel it will lead to imprisonment or even death. At the same time it is far easier to lead a life of taking drugs, excessive alchohol, and watch and listen to immoral films and music.

What has changed is that Sikhs as a whole do not look at the situation of the Panth but themselves as they are scared to take up issues of injustice due to the last 30 years of oppression. Over a 100,000+ Sikhs killed and you would think nothing has happened if you follow the political parties activities, its as if everybody knows something very bad has happened/happening but do not want to confront it.

Sikh groups to approach HC

.

Express news service: Jalandar Mon Sep. 24 2012, 05:00hrs

Several Sikh organisations put up a united front on Sunday, and said they will approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Union Home Department over the arrest of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani leaders Kulbir Singh Barapind and Daljit Singh Bittu. They alleged that the police were acting on the behest of the state government to suppress its political opponents. At a joint press conference, leaders of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani, Dal Khalsa, Akali Dal (Amritsar) and other like-minded organisations, said Barapind and Bittu were arrested because Panch Pardhani had launched a campaign against the activities of the SGPC and its trusts. HS Dhami of Dal Khalsa and Harpal Singh Cheema of Panch Pardhani asked why Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was silent on the issue.

"The first copy was given to Akal Takht jathedar Gurbachan Singh and second to SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar," said Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh.

A list of this literature provided by Jalandhar (rural) police included calendars with photograhs of dreaded militant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale, who was declared martyr by the Akal Takht and his pictures displayed by SGPC at Central Sikh Museum in Darbar Sahib.

Khalsa Fatehnama, a monthly magazine registered with the Registrar of Newspapers for India and being published since 2006, is also part of the "seditious" literature. Cops link Barapind to RDX case

...

JALANDHAR: After failing to recover any fresh explosives, Jalandhar (rural) police has now linked SGPC member and SAD (Panch Pardhani) president Kulbir Singh Barapind to a four-month-old RDX case at Nawashahr police station.

At a press conference on Sunday Jalandhar range DIG Lok Nath Angra said Barapind had links with Sandeep Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, who were arrested by Nawashahr police with 2.7kg RDX in May.

Meanwhile, police claimed that he was getting foreign funds and was in contact with pro-Khalistan elements.

Angra also said police had arrested one Surinder Singh, a resident of Thikriwal village near Barnala, with a country-made pistol. He also had very close association with Barapind, he added.

Meanwhile, alleging that a false case was registered against Barapind and former president Daljit Singh Bittu, human rights organizations have formed a joint front to "fight against state terrorism" and also announced to move the Punjab and Haryana high court against the "false case".

The rights organizations, including Punjab Human Rights Organization, Khalra Mission Committee, International Human Rights Organization and others like SAD (Amritsar), SAD (Panch Pardhani), Dal Khalsa, Khalsa Action Committee held a joint meeting and then a press conference.

Police action against Barapind justified: Makkar

Tuesday, September 25, 2012 – 01:47

AMRITSAR: Though arrest of SGPC member and Akali Dal Panch Pardhani president Kulbir Singh Barapind has been flayed by various Sikh and human rights organizations, SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar has refused to condemn the action by Punjab police.

Talking to the mediapersons, Makkar said the police action is justified as the police acted after getting certain reports and arms were recovered.

Meanwhile, replying to the issue of gurdwara demolition at Waraich village, the SGPC chief said, it was a closed chapter, Dera Radhasoami was not involved in the demolition.

“The shrine was demolished by the village panchayat. The SGPC report has already stated that there was no dera hand behind it but still there are many organizations who are flaying the order of Akal Takht by protesting against the demolition," added the SGPC chief.

The Sant Samaj should condemn Makkar and Badal and break away their alliance with them. Badal and Makkar have clearly shown who their master is and the Sant Samaj have no influence over them.

Along with the appointment of Sumedh Saini another killer of Sikhs, Izhar Alam has been given a top job by Badal

SIKHS FOR JUSTICE CHALLENGES 'UNDEMOCRATIC' DETENTION OF BARAPIND AND BITTU

GURPREET SINGH MEHAK | Published on September 26, 2012

NEW YORK, NY - Sikhs for Justice(SFJ) has approached international human rights organizations seeking their intervention and support in case of arrest of SGPC member Kulbir Singh Barapind and former SAD Panch Pardhani former president Daljit Singh Bittu.

In a letter to Amnesty International (AI) and Human Rights Watch (HRW), world’s leading human rights groups, SFJ has requested that Bittu and Barapind be declared as “Prisoners of Conscience (POC)” and an “APPEAL” be issued for their release. Prisoner of conscience (POC) is an individual who is imprisoned because of his race, religion, or political views and faces persecution for expression of his conscientiously held beliefs.

Reminding AI and HRW of widespread human rights abuses by security forces in Punjab during 1984-98, SFJ’s September 25 letter warns that if the current wave of implicating political activists in the name of curbing “terrorism” goes unchecked, it will result in another era of torture, illegal detentions, enforced disappearances and extra judicial killings of Sikhs.

Attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor to SFJ who practices human rights law in the United States said India is attempting to convince the world community of “revival of militancy and extremism among Sikh groups”; actually this is in retaliation to the exposure of the Indian Government’s policy of impunity and denial of justice to the Sikh victims of human rights abuses. “The recent detention of political activists on seemingly made up charges is yet another attempt to silence the voices of Sikh community which is becoming vocal about the denial of justice to the Sikhs in India.” We will not remain a silent spectator to denial of due process to the Sikh activists and suppression of freedom of speech under the disguise of “terrorism” and “militancy”, he stated.

Terming the recent actions of Badal government against the political activists Bittu and Barapind as utterly undemocratic, attorney Pannun stated that the Punjab government headed by Parkash Singh Badal is following the central government’s policies of suppressing the voices of Sikh activists. SFJ announced to launch an international campaign demanding the release of Bittu and Barapind and urged the world community to condemn India’s recent crackdown on Sikh political and human rights.

Its time all Sikh organisations came out to protest against the injustices happening to Sikhs. Sikhs in the past when faced with a common enemy would unite against it regardless of what group they were. We need to get the Sants/Babas, Jathebandhis to condemn the attacks against Sikhs, its no good being silent. The Guru Sahibs always spoke out against injustice and took action.

Would the Sikhs of old appoint Killers of Sikhs to their government or Police/army?

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
