my family are also Punjabi Hindus from Jalandhar...yea they speak Punjabi even in Delhi...Punjabi is like Delhi's second language...well almost first you can say :e:

You can say first, as Hindi was just forced on to them

i think i read some post by 'jahan' tha around 80% or so habitants in Dehli are PAnjabi speakers ohmy.gif

i was talking more about the institutional drive to reduce the usage of punjabi. ie the choices made at a higher level regarding languages used by the professional classes, in the class and lecture rooms, in local government, official papers and correspondence, street signs, television, newspapers available etc. the trend is towards hindi and english and away from punjabi. these choices do eventually trickle down to the street.
