ANTI-SIKH RIOTS

SC turns down plea for relief to 200 families

Legal Correspondent

New Delhi, January 4

The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition of a New York-based organisation, Sikhs for Justice, pleading for rehabilitation of about 200 families in Chandigarh affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

A Bench comprising Justices GS Singhvi and Gyan Sudha Misra, however, clarified that the riot-hit families were free to seek appropriate remedy for their grievances.

Arguing for the organisation, senior counsel Colin Gonsalves said these families were given Rs 3 lakh as relief and nothing more. The petition sought jobs and free ration for the victims on the lines of the rehabilitation package offered to migrant Kashmiri pandits affected by militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Those affected are certainly entitled to seek redress. You are a foreign body altogether as even your members are not Indians, the Bench noted.

Gonsalves said his client had taken up a number of similar cases at the international level and that was why he had agreed to appear for the organisation. During arguments, the Bench asked as to whether the organisation was involved in terrorist activities in Punjab in the 1980s.

If that is the attitude of the judges of the so-called Supreme Court in India then this should be final proof to any Sikhs than thought we can still get justice in India. What a bunch of Morons these judges are, what does that fact that the organisation is based abroad have to do with the merit of the case. The Haram.zada judges also want to know what Sikhs for Justice were involved in 'terrorism' in the 1980s.

Believe me or not, the reason we don't get justice or will never get justice is majority Indians feel very delighted on hearing Sikh massacre in November 1984, they laugh/giggle/celebrate the Sikh genocide. They might shed crocodile tears in front of us with statements "Bada maada hoya, Hindu-Sikh Bhara Bhara", but on our backs, they giggle with comments "Hor kato inhaano, eda paise enhaan kol, loot lo saara, edi soniyan ena di janaaniyan, maar do enhaanun, te chak lo enhaan nun". I have heard these comments myself in my college hostel balcony. You can see the comments of Hindu judges of Supreme Court of India - which is whether if SFJ was involved in terrorism in 1980s, which proves Hindu is Blind. What does 1980s terrorism has to do with justice of 1984 Sikh genocide carried out by Indian Hindus?

Has anybody gone through Allahabad High Court ruling on Babri Masjid and read the comments of Justice Sharma and Justice Aggarwal?

Whenever we corner them on the '84 issue, they retreat by calling us Khalistani extremists.

We saw the same thing after Bhai Rajoana's ordeal. Manmohan "Singh" went to Canada, U.S.A. and U.K. to tell their governments to crack down on Sikh "extremism".

There was no extremism going on. People were just more vocal about the unfair treatment of Sikhs and the lack of justice for '84 victims. Canada's govt. has told India that they will not compromise on their principle of freedom of speech. India doesn't understand the concept.

Such horrific crimes have been committed over the years against Sikhs, Muslims, Christians and low caste Hindus, you would expect a reasonable number of people from the majority community to help, even if just on a hummanitarian basis. However apart from a few only a small number come forward to help, it speaks volumes about the nature of Indian society. Before anybody sayas education is the answer, the educated middle classes are the worst. Just imagine 100,000 people massacred by the state in Europe or the USA in the last 30 years , would you just ignore it and pretend it did not happen?

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
