Akhaad Paath Items?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Went to book an Akhand Paath today from the gurdwara and was told that they will not allow prakash of Japji Sahib Pothi; they will not keep jal; they will not keep a coconut and will not light a jyot during the Akhand Paath.

I wanted to ask is it manmat to have these things present during an Akhand Paath? If so, Why?

It is not manmat.This is the real maryada of an Akhand path.If you can find a Gurdwara that is pro taksal/nihang they will willingly do these things.

Southall.

The gurdwara we had it booked from has said that these things go against maryada.

Could you please explain what things like Jyot, Dhoof and coconut signify during an akhand paath?

I'm not trying to start a debate or anything, just genuinley wanna know the purpose behind it.

Well dhoop: clean-ness of sangat dhoop kills a lot of bacteria in the air.

Kyo (butter or ghee) jyot: a light parkash for maharaaj

Jal:with all that bani the jal bacomes pavitar and amrit and can be then sprinled around ur house and drank.

Coconuts(naraaial): original maryada to do jhatka (quick cut) of coconuts with a axe, its to enfuse bir ras hence we do on dasam parkash akhand/sehaj path

Japjisahib:this is old maryada to keep a jap ji sahib pothi and is a must.

The sgpc gurdwareh in southall r nindaks and nastiks sangat ji they go against the hukam of takhts and disrespect bani/rehat.

Allow nindaks such as dhunda in which dosent even belive in naam simran!

I wud suggest u try the cliffton road gurdwara there has been that maryada practiced on akhand paaths. Gud luck

Let me explain you in a little bit of detail, 

First, while bringing guru granth sahib ji home you must have seen the people ringing a talla(bell) and sprinkling water. The water is sprinkled to clean the area where the guru is coming and the bell is talla is rung so that people know that the guru is coming and make way. 

Next the jyot which is a ceremonial Clarified butter (ghee) lamp, which burns 24/7 is actually for concentration during paath. It is also found in many gurudwaras in India. 

Last the coconut over kalash of water, it is kept because the water absorbs the gyan of guru and coconut symbolises our head and coconut offerings are also given in many Indian gurudwaras. 

Pls note that all of this is done if the akhand path is held at home.
