The famous newspaper editor you talk of is Lala Jagat Narain who was notoriously anti-Sikh. The reason why Sant Jee was released is because there was no evidence of him being linked with his murder. As for the hijacked plane, again the Sikhs who did that were just average Sikhs who were supporters(hamdard) of Sant Jee, they were not part of Sant Jee's group. When they saw Sant Jee being arrested on false charges they hijacked the plane. No one was hurt. It was a political stunt to bring world media attention to the plight of the Sikhs. The Singhs who hijacked the plane were not even part of Sant Jee's group(Taksal). They were members of Dal Khalsa which had it's own command structure. Problem is, Indian media and Hindu public in general are very ignorant of internal Sikh matters. They assume all Sikh nationalists were under direct command of Sant Bhindranwale. They don't even know that there were a number of distinct groups, Sant Jee's group was one of many. But due to him being a Sant, many of these groups had deep respect for him.

You brought up 1978. In 1978, Sikhs held a peaceful procession against the Nirankaris who then martyred 13 Sikhs. Lala Jagat Narain was not even there, yet he being so anti Sikh that he became a false witness against the Sikhs. What's interesting is, even Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale wasn't there, yet the Lala gave a false testimony against him and other Sikhs as if he was standing right next to Sant Jee where he supposedly heard Sant Jee urging young Sikhs to attack the Narakdhari chief. The Lala wasn't wasn't the only one, in general Punjabi Hindus(and their media) played the same anti Sikh role that they played during the Nankana Sahib massacre decades earlier where they openly condemned the Sikhs even though the Sikhs were the peaceful ones.

Lala Jagat Narain along with other fanatical Hindu journalists such as Mahasha Verinder, Yash began their provocative anti Sikh propaganda in favour of the Nirankaris who had martyred 13 Sikhs. Arya Samaj of Punjab also said they stand with the Nirankaris against the Sikhs. The Lala was the worst of all. When Sikh led a peaceful procession in favour of declaring Amritsar as a Holy city, he began to write against this and Punjabi Hindus on their part even carried out a counter procession against declaring Amritsar a holy city while yelling anti Sikh slogans! Another time, he wrote an article comparing Gandhi to Guru Gobind Singh Jee where he tried to show Gandhi as being superior because he did not have to pick up the sword.

After the Lala was killed, his funeral procession a large number of Hindus had gathered to follow the Laash of Lala to the cremation ground where they began to attack any turban wearing Sikh they could find. Many Sikh owned houses and shops were vandalized by the Hindu mob. Not surprisingly, that mockumentory episode of Pradhaan Mantri did not show any of this, but instead gave a very anti Sikh view of the whole conflict.

I'm no fan of Jinnah. But that saying of Jinnah came to be 100% true. Today Sikhs have learnt their lesson. Never willingly go under the political domination of Hindus and Muslims. Muslims we already knew about, but the Hindu was our co-slave during Islamic and British domination of India. It's only after 1947 when Hindus themselves became politically dominant over the Sikhs that our people realized their mistake.

Your story about Atwal is also half true. Yes he went to Darbar Sahib but not with his family. He went with two other officers in plain cloths. Atwal was a terrorist cop. He had burnt the Guru Granth Sahib in Chando Kalan village in Haryana as well as kill unarmed Sikhs in Mehta Chowk. He was also pioneer of the fake encounter killings in Punjab. He had captured, tortured and then done a fake encounter of Kulwant Singh Nagoke and Gurmit Singh Dhulkot besides also terrorizing people in Daonte Village.

Some say this Dusht was killed by two Singhs named Major Singh and Ram Singh because Atwal ordered Swaran Ghotna to strip and parade a Dalit girl in the village of Daonke in order to pressure her brother to surrender himself. While some are of the opinion that he was killed by the third agency created by Indira Gandhi to make her case stronger for the attack on Darbar Sahib. And his body was left there for 2 hours not 2 days!

Instead of worrying about this terrorist police officer, perhaps you should worry about how a Hindu mob incited by the Mahasha Hindu press of Punjab had organised an anti Sikh parade in 1982 led by the terrorist Pawan Kumar Sharma. This terrorist procession was being escorted by the Punjab police. While they were shouting their Anti Sikh slogans, the angry Hindu mob grabbed two policemen simply because they were turban wearing Sikhs. These two Sikhs were beaten up so ruthlessly that they died. Not a single Hindu was charged for this crime.
