Does Karma Move To Your Children?

Recommended Posts

Just as passive smoking affects children; so does immoral wealth, and pooja da dhan.

Bhaji, thats an odd comparison to make.

In Kalyug, only the individual will pay for his deeds/misdeeds. No-one else. Not the recipients of that illegal dhan, esp if they are children or do not have the budhi to know right from wrong.

^^ right bhagat ravidas ji had to take birth again, because he got the offerings from a dishonest "seth" and fed his Guru. HIs Guru's birti couldn't concentrate and after inquring he did bachans for his re-birth.

kind of, but Bhagat Ji's Guru didnt have to take birth again for drinking the "dishonest" milk did he? It was Bhagat Ji who had to take the rebirth, in the house of a chamar, because he had taken the milk from a chamars house to give to his Guru.

Gurbani talks about human psychology

ਜੋ ਜੀਇ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਉਗਵੈ ਮੁਹ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਵਾਉ ॥(SGGS jeeo - Ang 474)

Jo Jeee Hoe S Ougavai Muh Kaa Kehiaa Vaao ||

जो जीइ होइ सु उगवै मुह का कहिआ वाउ ॥

Whatever is in the mind, comes forth; spoken words by themselves are just wind.

As for living with parents, solution is either learn to adjust, tolerate or find a place of your own.

Dear Brother,

It feels like you keep moving the goal posts in a way. The original post was about whether a child takes on the karma of his/her parents, from disagreeing with you on bringing in caste within this debate, you now have stated a shabad of our guru ji in reference to the humans psychology? Again, I can not identify your point or understand what this has to do with our previous posts to one another. It's kinda out of context.

Also, you did not respond to what I asked and stated within my last post.

Just as passive smoking affects children; so does immoral wealth, and pooja da dhan. There are numerous references, as to why Guru Sahiban would throw wealth into the river, rather than feed the Sikhs with it.

There is a saying, not directly from Gurbani, but based on Gurbani kamiee:

Pooja da dhan tinn kamm karein; hadd bhanan, mat maran, Naam na jappan dehan.

Consuming pooja dhan or immoral earnings, will lead to: laziness, a corrupt mind, and the inability to japp Naam.

If anyone needs to see the practical result of this, just look at the people who feed themselves, and their children on such wealth...

Waheguru.....

Dear Mokham Singh ji,

I agree that one should earn an honest living however I personally thing this is a separate issue to whether a child takes his/ parents karma on.

here is a shabad which tells of Bhagwan Balmik beng a robber:

Maaroo, Fourth Mehla:

The Siddhas in Samaadhi meditate on Him; they are lovingly focused on Him. The seekers and the silent sages meditate on Him as well.

The celibates, the true and contented beings meditate on Him; Indra and the other gods chant His Name with their mouths.

Those who seek His Sanctuary meditate on Him; they become Gurmukh and swim across. ||1||

O my mind, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and cross over.Dhanna the farmer, and Balmik the highway robber, became Gurmukh, and crossed over. ||1||Pause||

Angels, men, heavenly heralds and celestial singers meditate on Him; even the humble Rishis sing of the Lord.

Shiva, Brahma and the goddess Lakhshmi, meditate, and chant with their mouths the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

Those whose minds are drenched with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, as Gurmukh, cross over. ||2||

Millions and millions, three hundred thirty million gods meditate on Him; there is no end to those who meditate on the Lord.

The Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees meditate on the Lord; the Pandits, the religious scholars, sing the Lord's Praises as well.

Those whose minds are filled with the Naam, the source of nectar - as Gurmukh, they cross over. ||3||

Those who chant the Naam in endless waves - I cannot even count their number.

The Lord of the Universe bestows His Mercy, and those who are pleasing to the Mind of the Lord God, find their place.

The Guru, granting His Grace, implants the Lord's Name within; servant Nanak chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||2||

The Shabad states due to Naam Simran or Jaap they became Gurmukh.

There is no equivalent to SatNaam, it can erase all past Karma.

Your perception that effect of some karma can be removed and some cannot is TOTALLY WRONG.

The gist of the verse is that talk & DAWAH are useless.

If anyone truly believes in caste it will eventually come out in the open.

bhagat ji and his guru were honest, it was the seth who was on dishonest living, but bhagat ji had to pay by taking rebirth and his Guru's birti was shaken and messed up their jeewan & relationship

and seth was for sure to pay for his dishonesty to dharamraaj. Seth did the "karam" but the other 2 were not involved in the karam directly, but still got affected in some way or other

Bhaji can i ask if you are not into sakhis, sants or gianis, how do you get your information?

in reply to the above, i dont know how to approach it, because you are not into sakhis, sants or gianis, so if you let me know how you get your knowledge of gurmat, i may be able to use that to help my reply.

and seth was for sure to pay for his dishonesty to dharamraaj

ok if that is the version of the story you have been told.

Yes. I partially agree with you on that. DAWAH is useless but talk is verbal speech formed from ones mind and if based on the gurus, gurmat and gurbani it becomes sikhi da parchar. If it is self opinion, it is simply opinion.

I also agree with you that if one who gives themselves a title of sikh and then has a soft spot for caste, is indeed no sikh as they have not learnt one of the basic fundamental principles of sikih, it does definately come out in the open in the end.....like promoting caste based programs and inevitably becoming that parent, who instructs and misguides their children into marrying within their own caste. All along still claiming their sikhs.

Again, please can you clarify what caste has to do with ones karma? Because you still haven't? I have read that you don't read sakhi's, parchar from sants or gianies. So please provide me with a shabad from gurbani concerning the relation to Karam and Jaath Paath, also where guru ji tells us we will take our parents karma on. Please stay on topic and educate me why your view is as such, if I am incorrect in my thinking, please correct me with the relevant shabads in regards to what I have stated above.
