Reading Puratan Books On Tablet

Possible options:

eInk - think Kindle/Nook - for eye strain. BUT, the processors in those are woefully under-powered and may take a long time to turn pages. Also, you need to make sure the reader handles PDFs well and is of adequate size - most eBook readers are small and scrunch the image too much to be readable (you sit there zooming and panning). Great battery life, cheaper, no eye strain, but limited in its abilities (really only usable for book reading. You can root some to be a full tablet, but given the underpowered processor, it is not ideal).

Tablet - iPads and Kindle Fire HDs/HDXs - more powerful processor, but may lead to eye strain as there is a screen you have to stare at for hours. Ok battery life. Can handle apps that can almost replace an entire PC.

Surface Pro - expensive, but powerful as a PC. Battery life is of concern somewhat. Heavier than the other options.

Honestly, go and try them out. If you can get a hold of an eBook reader and load a giant PDF to see how it handles, it would go a long way to seeing if it is responsive (and large enough) to be a good candidate. the iPads and Kindle HDXs should be powerful enough to load and read large PDfs and the Surface Pro definitely so. See what meets your needs and price range.
