I have a good Christian friend, and we were having a discussion the other day about the Book of Revelations and its prophecies. *Note: I am not converting to Christianity LOL.gif

Anyways, he was telling me about the coming of the anti-christ and how the world will have some tough times ahead, blah blah. What's surprising is that most of the prophecies are coming true, with recent events.

Question: What does Sikhi have to say about this? Does it even address this issue?

Bhai Sahib jeeo,

Which prophecies have come true so far? And in which Christian scripture can you find them documented in?

As Sikhs we shouldn't worry about prophecies because Guru Sahib taught us to live in bhana, his will. So why worry about something in future when we have our present to improve? But just for your knowledge, there have been prophecies made in many Sikhi related scriptures, Karni Nama and Sau Sakhi are the most common ones which are discussed. We have had many discussions on them in past on this forum and you can do a search on them.

well i am not so sure when it comes to what the bible says. but there have been devote christians that have written their prophecies into a book.

example, mother shipton of god knows where, predicted that the world would see iron ships that would float like wooden ships.

chariots that would run without horses (cars) etc etc etc.

most famous is nostradamous, who predicted world war 1, world war 2 (and even named the main people like de gaulle and hitler though he calls him hister)

and most famous is that of the world trade center. (he also said his brother would be the baba of christianity aka be the pope one day, in which he did).

now lets look at what nostradamus also said, but never came true.

world war 3 should have happened in 1999, and caused the whole world to blow up. well its 2004, has that happened? no.

the world goes on hukam. just because some people did mass bhakti, they gained ridhiya-sidhiya and said they were pandits who could predict the future, it does not mean that it will neccesarily happen now ill it?

what aaj kal di people think is that just because someone has written this down, it'll happen whenever. but a classic example of something not happenening is the above world war 3 thing. has it happened yet? no not yet. point being, sure someone can write

something down, but that can change any second.

take raavaan. did mass loads of bhakti, had darshan of maharaj. wasnt supposed to mess up, got a kingdom, was supposed to be immortal (which is what he asked for), and bang, he died. why? the hukam of god changed.

as soggs has said above, there is no point in looking for future things, at the end of the day ji look at present pehla, then future ji.

so in regards to prophecies, dont get too influenced by them (dont even get influenced by them) because at the end of the day, the world goes on hukam and that my friend can change.

p.s. can i ask whats with the pic :T: ? it looks like one singh is about to slap the other singhs teeth out, and the other guy is actually happy about having his teeth out by a (professional dentist?) singh.

Khalsa ji,

What if he was mukt? No-one knows if Jesus was mukt or not. How would you feel if someone said Guru Nanak Dev ji was not mukt, or Guru Arjan Dev ji was not mukt, but very high spiritual level.

I don't think anyone has the power to discuss someone else's bhagti level, more than half the world follows Jesus Christ, he gave shaheedi for his panth.

Bhul chuk muaf.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

who cares if more than half of the world follows him

enough duniya follwed pandits for a loong time,s till, do, did murti pooja, etc.

and guru je spoke out agains them a lot

and i dont think he was mukht from his teachings

read the bible

chrisianty belived god is a man sitting in his throne in heaven

like a literal man and humans were fanioshed in the image of god

so is god black, white, chinese

it doesnt make sense

remeber

the hindu is blind because they think god is a stone

muslaman only has one eye because they think god lives in , i think they say macca

ive seen his teachings

from his own religious memebes and from the parcharicks of his own

that he drank wine

and its not refeerning to grape juice as some people have said

but litteral wine

and also im not sure if this is true, but in the move passion of jesus christ, and ive heard around during jesus time of shaheedi he said oh, god, y have u left me too?

but i aint sure if he really said that

maybe that was just added in or something

and thas wat chrisitans say, if there nice ones, that other prophets were wise men

but they never say they were true prophets

there hardcore on converting others

bhula chuka maf

I don't care if people followed him, but there was a purpose why people beleived in him.

LOL, first of all the bible doesn't contain the teachings of Jesus,

http://www.atheists.org/christianity/myth.html I know its an atheist website, but still shows the truth. If you can show me writings OF Jesus Christ I'll beleive you, You're saying, you can find out if someone is mukt or not from his/her teachings???

If I start my own religion tomorrow, and copy everything from sikhi, and people follow me, am I automatically mukt?

The bible is NOT written by Jesus Christ, but random figures who supposedly saw heard, lived with Jesus, no-one knows the real teachings of Jesus Christ, like we know of our Guru Sahibs from SGGS.

ALot of the facts you're claiming have no proof, I know christianity isn't a sampooran religion like sikhi. But this is about Jesus not about christianity.

Fateh,

The ones pertaining to Europe and mainly the events in the middle east. I've been keeping up with the news, and the central developments of Europe, in particular the creation of one European entity with one elected President, and the conflict in Palestine parrallels these 'prophecies.'

I am not worried at all, mind you, but interested to see what is happening and how this is discusssed in Sikhi.

    • Definitely the Guru Sahibs would be a heavier Scriptures to handle. Dasam Granth is more towards Bir Rass, Guru Gobind Singh showed his Greatness (of course, they would never say this) by separating his own Baania.  And the BIGGEST test of all?? Do we try and read Dasam Granth, Understand n show respect like we do to SGGS? Or... Do we QUESTION it? Guru Gobind Singh Ji is testing us.
    • My wife will be going for an MRI scan next week but her Kara won’t physically come off.  Is there any way the mri scan can be done with the Kara still on?  The alternative is we will have to try to saw it off before the scan.
    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
