What are your thoughts on Jagtar Singh Tara cutting his hair and beard to disguise his appearance after the Burail jail break?

I am in no way criticizing Bhai Jagtar Singh as he is a lion of the panth. However, I must ask the question.

There are always better ways than to cut your Kesh to get some way to help the Panth. Baba Deep Singh Ji never cut his Kesh yet he could complete his mission, the Bhai Taru Singh Ji completed his mission without cutting his Kesh, Bhai Fauja Singh Ji another great GurSikh kept his Kesh, the Char Sahibzadey. If you have ever read Anand Sahib you'd know that those who leave the Satguru are not really to be trusted: One who turns away from the Guru, and becomes baymukh - without the True Guru, he shall not find liberation.

He shall not find liberation anywhere else either; go and ask the wise ones about this.

Anek jūnī bẖaram āvai viṇ saṯgur mukaṯ na pā▫e. He shall wander through countless incarnations; without the True Guru, he shall not find liberation.

Fir mukaṯ pā▫e lāg cẖarṇī saṯgurū sabaḏ suṇā▫e. But liberation is attained, when one is attached to the feet of the True Guru, chanting the Word of the Shabad.

ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥੨੨॥ कहै नानकु वीचारि देखहु विणु सतिगुर मुकति न पाए ॥२२॥ Kahai Nānak vīcẖār ḏekẖhu viṇ saṯgur mukaṯ na pā▫e. ||22|| Says Nanak, contemplate this and see, that without the True Guru, there is no liberation. ||22||" Anand Sahib.

Very well said.

Thanks.

He didn't do it because he wanted to look handsome . He cut it because he thought it would be very difficult to go into hiding with dastaar. Although I don't support him in removing his kes, but he was actually fighting for panth and rather than the ones who remove their kes because they want the ladies. I understand why he did, but still don't support that decision he made.

People like Bhai taru Singh never cut there hair and other shaheed singh died for their kesh. So in my opinion a true Sikh would never have the idea of cutting their kesh. Look at the likes of sant kartar Singh bhindrawale who got into an accident. He had to get surgery but the surgery would result in getting his hair cut. He decided he would not get surgery and so he decided he would die. That's hardcore sikhi.

Look at you lot: judge, jury and executioners for someone who has done more for the Panth, Sikhi and Kamai than all of us put together.

The REAL world fact is that missions like Bhai Sahib completed require sacrifice, of their families, freedom and even on some occasions their own Kesh / Gift.

This is NO means makes them a baymukh - without the True Guru, and turned away!? What madness is that! Bhai Sahib has done his deed. Got Guru Ji's blessings and Khushia, if they HAVE to cut their Kesh as a personal sacrifice as a result, Guru Ji, in my humble opinion, would not see this person as a traitors, or baymukh.

Someone solid in their Sikhi and at an advanced level would not do this? Nah, don't agree. You can't apply a general rule with everyone. If Sant Kartar Singh Ji did this that means that applies to everyone for example. In War you have to do certain things, eat certain things, live a certain way - normally he wouldn't have cut his Kesh, but as in war - he had to. End of. He's not a beymukh, he's a Soorma, and hats off to the guy.

Lastly, to the psyole saying "Naa hes lost my respect f*** him... its wrong what he did say whateverbu want. Our purataan singhs didnt cut there hair" Your a wasteman with no Kamai.
