rsingh veerji:

- Everything starts from the home. I didn't tell my mom that i had become a veggie. But when meat was served i ate some other things. So gradually they understood.

- We were a group of friend who use to hang-out etc and eat outside. I started at uni and detached myself from that sangat. when i meet someone from there now, i eat veggie food, they may eat whatever they like.

- The new folks whom i spend time with know i don't eat meat.

So start from your house. And gradually, to your surroundings. What kind of Sangat that we have is essential. They should be accepting/kind etc. It will make you firm in your belief.

That's from me. Bhul chuk Maaf Jio.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

with Maharaj ji's kirpa i have been strict vegetarian for last seven years

i used to eat non-veg stuff for sometime & then abstain from it for a while .

one day a friend tried to force me into eating non-veg while i was abstaining.

he made fun of my abstaining habit.

he told me to abstain forever. i agreed.

i just did ardaas for this. & very soon after that Maharaj ji blessed me with amrit.

here i am . ardas is very powerful.

when i stopped eating non-veg altogether; nothing bad happened to my body.

but infact there was lot of improvement in the satO biRtee.

before that i had a discussion with a radha soami about meat.

he said meat eating is good only if the meat is your own.

he said our thighs have lot of flesh.

if we cut flesh from there, cook & eat then its ok otherwise not. ohmy.gif

there was a singh in our hostel who ate lot of non-veg stuff

his answer was very brief

lions don't feed on grass rolleyes.gif

i wish good luck to those who wish to be vegetarians :TH:

its definitely helpful in spiritual quest.

those who wish to eat meat ; please continue. i don't mind nonono.gif

I was a great meat lover and had a lot of discussions with people abt it whether its allowed or not in sikhi. It was really hard for me to leave it. I tried once to leave it but failed the very next day.I did ardass to guru ji that if its not good for a sikh to eat meat then please let my mind understand this and give me the shakti to leave meat forever.

Few days later guru ji have me eat a big burrito of chicken and while eating that i felt that something from inside is stopping me from eating that. From the very nexy day I declared to all my friendz.....NO MORE MEAT AND EGGS.

I take it this way that guru ji's sikhs have done so many big big kurbanis and I can't leave taste of my tounge....that gave me inspiritation to leave meat.

But I dont feel bad if somebdy else eat meat and i never lecture them.

The lack of protein can be counterbalanced by taking Whey Protein (Optimum Nutrition Brand is my fav)2-3 scoops is good but 1 times ur weight is how much u need in a day...so u dont need to be meat eater to be strong, I am a vegetarian bodybuilder (i eat eggs once a month)

OR you can eat the desi food - Daal (any which continas lentils  ), Ramja a lot of nuts etc - to keep ur protien value balanced :D

Makes me think - Guru ji thought of everything for us - he gave us simple food

Daal - protiens rich, as we don't eat meat

Sarbloh - reduces lack of iron value

If u wear Sarbloh Kare, cook in Sarbloh utensils etc

bhull chukk maaf
