What's your opinion of sikhs on dating sites?

As the title states, do you guys think it's okay or is it wrong?  Thanks, confused about this issue

If Sikhs are looking for serious Sikh partners (with view to marriage), it's great idea for those struggling to do this through their own physical contacts. 

If it's just for a bunk up, it's crap. 

But also, I've heard from umpteen apneean who've tried to find a Sikh guy for a husband through such sites, that it is not uncommon for them to get bombarded with messages from prospective sullay from all over the globe, even when they've explicitly stated that they are looking for Sikh guys. 

Some low IQ people (especially certain females) need to be careful of the sites and not forget people can (and do!) pretend they are SIkh when they are not, for various (usually dark) motives.

Quality of girls on dating sites is appalling only a despo singh would go out with most of them as those kinda girls have been defiled by non-sikhs usually sullay, goray, kalay and imagine your future wife having had a non sikh guy in her many times she will think its normal and teach your daughters its ok to have non-sikh partners.

Not every Sikh has lots of contacts with other Sikhs.

People get arranged marriages into some conservative families and can still end up with the type of girl you're talking about.

Many of these girls call it.....trying every flavor.  Their official name is something more colorful but why go there when its obvious.

Imagine, using a dating site to get to know a potential partner, instead of sleeping with them. Imagine a world where people aren't so judgemental like you.  And yes I have an account on a matrimonial site, and no I don't date. But glad to know what kind of Sikh "boy" I should avoid.

I do not know if your family is Punjabi/Subcontinental, but to explain the concept, usually an arranged marriage is decided upon a few factors and mostly based on your contacts, which has been how people have found Rishtas. Now we get all that history out of the way let's discuss the now. Most Sikhs sadly don't all live in Sikh-only centers like we used to, so it has become harder to find contacts. The only ways to find a Rishta is either someone helps you or you find it yourself, (this includes love marriage as well). 

Now let's get the person who's parents don't have many contacts and telling him to find a spouse that is also compatible in and they don't live in a Sikh-center: (Punjab), and they need to find a Rishta, it'll be incredibly hard for them.

Exceptions to the contacts rule are:

6. Unique Status position.

Again you can only find Rishtas realistically from either you knowing contacts, or you finding contacts. (One or the other), because our culture has a very much marry 2 families instead of just 2 people.

I know genuine marriages which have taken place and lasted due to the internet. However you first have to be that genuine person.  To get to a genuine person you need to go through a lot of trash first.  Therefore if you intend to hit the Internet it is good to be aware of all potential lurking dangers.  Talk and find out as much as possible about your potential spouse and avoid meeting alone. It is not a bad idea to get parents involved when meeting.  Use the Internet as you would approach a rishta in real life. .... not for secret dating.

when the need for something becomes essential, you are forced to find ways of getting or achieving it.

 

Dating is supposedly a taboo for Sikhs but as money takes priority over moral values n parents no longer bothered who can say it's wrong.

 

I wonder why there's no mention of minimum & maximum age for marriage in Rehat Maryada ?

 

None of the religious leaders were genuine & bold enough to add this much needed diktat "marrying age" in Sikh Code of Conduct.
