Enough is enough. We have to stop the Nishkam Sevak Jatha (Soho Road) from continuing their marathon attempt at destroying our heritage.

First they do a bodge up job on the gold plating for the Darbar Sahib. The inner marble structure is now in danger. they know this but are to proud to admit that they have done wrong.

Now it is reported that they are in the process of replacing the Darshani Deori gates which are very important historically. There is little use writing to the SGPC. We need to start telephoning and writing to the Brum Jatha to stop destroying our heritage. Unless we act now they will just carry on destroying our heritage. The gates there can be preserved but for some reason the Brummie Jatha wants to leave its own mark.

If any paanji or veerji has any contact details for the Nishkam Jatha then please can they publish them.

Stopsingh, Stopsingh1, stopsingh3 :

And how you will stop them?? ))))

Did you take any step?? care to show sangata that you did something rather than simply posted the message?? ))))

Write, fax and telephone the brummie jatha, arrange meetings with them. Get answers out of them as to which experts the consulted when making the decision that new doors/gates were required and the old ones could not be restored.

Dr Rai who is an adviser to the Akal Takht Jathedar was on Panjab Radio yesterday so maybe if anyone has his contact details we could ask him as adviser to the Akal Takht to raise the issue about these gates.

I thank Panjab Radio for publicising the issue on 21/11/2004.

sikhlionz ji, anything is possible.

an old sakhi, dating back to... bible times.

there was a kingdom i think, who was evil and tried to destroy christianity. god said to one guy, do some sewa. and he gathered an army. the army was whey to big and god told this guy to say "anyone who wants to go home, you can", the army was dramatically decreased to 300. but that was still alot.

anyway, god said to the guy, he should circle this fort once on the first day, twice on the 2nd day, third on the third day etc.

on the seventh day, the christians went around seven times and then began to shout, in fact so much, that this fort had crumbled and christianity was saved.

the story has a meaning, it is possible to do anything. especialliy if you actually listen to one another. i mean look how big this fort was, and it crumbled by a few shouts.

now look at this jatha, huge it is, but if you want a say, then say it.

good luck stopsingh

All well and good but this jatha does not like listening. They are well aware that experts on heritage have found that the gold plating they did is seriously flawed and the inner marble structure of the Darbar Sahib at risk of destruction. The Jatha have done zilch to correct this. In my opinion they are more concerned about making a mark for their Jatha than doing the seva for the good of the Sik

h Panth. I remember when they were doing the plating work and speaking with a few people who go to Soho Road they were going on about how their Bhai Sahib was the only one who could do this seva after Maharaja Rhunjeet Singh Ji (boasting really).

I think the thing is, preservation IS needed to preserve Harimandir Sahib. We all agree with this yes? Well at the moment, it needs restoration for preservation. Now, its easy to comment on GNNSJ and say they doing a bad job but at least they making the effort and have undertaken the seva. Im sure if u step up and offer seva then they will allow you to help..?! Ive seen the damage that was done to Harimandir Sahib... ive touched the plates which had the original bullet holes... i think they have done a good job in that sense.

Dont get me wrong, im not a GNNSJ member or supporter or anything like that. I basically think if u arent gonna DO anything about it in the sense that you gather your own group of sevadars and go to Harimandir Sahib and organise things urself, you shouldnt slander those that are trying their best.

Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh !

I heard from a radio programme discussion that the hinges are damaged which can be fixed if they wanted .... but they want to replace them becuz somehindus are asking for the doors. The doors were donated in history (if anyone got more details on this please post). This reminds me of ayodha - not to the same scale but when fanatical hindus had their way and bricked a Mosque down because they wanted to build a mandir there.

Badal the <admin-profanity filter activated> selling Sikhi for power and politics ....

Regarding bullet marks on Sri Harmandir Sahib, in my opinion at this point in time we shouldn't remove them as they are a reminder of what has happened to us and what is happening .... if you look back to news reports the goi and army say that not one shot wasn't fired at Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Harmandir Sahib yet we have proof so this is our History, so it should be preserved for everyone to see and remember.

They will not allow anyone to help and they are not willing to listen to experts on preserving heritage etc. Gurmeet Rai has been talking about the damage done to the Darbar Sahib during the gold plating exercise but the Brummie Jatha dismiss her concerns without even bothering to look into them. These concerns were expressed by many when the seva was started but the Brummies do not want to listen. They think everthing they do is right. Unless they are stopped they will want to build everything a fresh. The kar

sewa wale have done enough damage. The Brummie Jatha should be more sensitive to the ideas of preservation and restoration rather than whole scale replacing of everything. If you think they did a good job on the plating then please hang on and in due time you will see that they have started the process of destroying the inner marble structure.

No one is slandering anyone. There is a deep divide between slandering and raising concern at the destruction of our heritage. The Brummies know that there are problems with the gold plating but have done zilch to get experts in and sort out their bodge up job.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
