Guest Kaur 2
VJKK VJKF I am thinking of keeping a saroop of Sri Dasam Granth Ji in my bedroom. I can read Gurmukhi so I can read it. I asked my mom about it and she said yes and she is taking me to DTF (Soho Road) sometime in the holidays (I think they have saroops of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji anyway). I just wanted to know the maryada of keeping Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji in my house. My family eat meat etc but they only eat it downstairs but my saroop of Sri Dasam Granth Ji will be kept in my bedroom at all times so none of the meat will go near Maharaj. I just wanted to know if this is alright because if it is beadbi of any sort then I won't bring Maharaj into my house. Its better if Maharaj is kept with the satkaar (respect) it deserves. Please reply soon because I need to know as fast as possible. I will put it in a clean place where it is at a higher level than me. Also, if anyone else owns a saroop of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib then please do tell me what the daily routine of looking after Maharaj is. I really want to be blessed of having Maharaj in my house but if it cannot be treated with the utmost respect then I won't disrespect Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji. Please provide as much detail as possible. Thank you. Bhull Chuk Maaf. VJKK VJKF

VJKK VJKF Phenji, I think doing Prakash of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji would require a seperate room. In terms of Satkaar I believe the maryada doesn't differ much from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I'm not sure if you can keep Them in your bedroom, even if it is in a higher place. Gutka Sahib, Senchiya, Pothis etc, possibly. Not 100% sure though.

Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth Sahib is only parkash in Sri Guru Granth Sahibs hazoori, never separately. 6 hours ago, Guest Kaur 2 said: I really want to be blessed of having Maharaj in my house I dont think you are going to get blessings on your head, rather you are going to lose them. Think about what you are doing. You sound really naive (forgive me) for thinking about this when your post shows you clearly have no idea. Either buy the senchia and read them at your leisure or read on online at searchgurbani.com they have english trans on that site, its very good.

VJKK VJKF So without ad sri guru granth sahib ji you cannot do parkash of dasam granth sahib ji. It is maryada. There is different maryadas for dasam and sarbloh granth as well. Daas has been blessed to have dasam parkash at the house for many years now. It requires a lot of maryada and sucham. I recommend start with ad sri guru granth sahib ji senchis. Dont jump to sri dasam granth because it is not a game.

VJKK VJKF Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh, Bhenji I recommend that you take sri dasam guru granth sahib ji senchiya instead of the full saroop. As far as keeping the saroop in your room, you can keep it as long as it is not a full saroop. But you have to have complete sucham. By this I mean your room should be dusted and vacuumed before you take the saroop home. The place where you put maharaj should be higher than your bed and your feet should not point that way. When you read you should put on a hazooria and do panj ishnaani (washing of hands feet and face) even when you have had an ishnaan. Never touch your feet you face the floor or anything except for maharaj when reading. If you need to then do it with your hazooria. Btw I am explaining sucham rules because a lot of people touch the floor or their feet and then use the same hands to touch maharaj. When you want to do parkash, make your bed and put a clean cloth on it. On that clean cloth, put your rail and do parkash. When doing parkash make sure the rumalas do not touch the bed sheet but they can touch the clean cloth maharaj is on. Face your pillow when reading. When I do parkash, I read shabads like "chakkar chihan ar barn jaat". If you need to get up when doing paath do not leave maharaj open. Either give a rumala to cover the whole ang or do sukhasan. When brining maharaj home, you should try to sit in the front seat of the car and put a towel on your lap, then put maharaj on top. if you need maryada of sehaj paath sahib just ask. Baaki it's all about sharda. Bhul chuck maaf kar deo

I just wanted to increase the amount of Dasam bani that I do and learn more. I love Dasam bani becuase it sounds so different and the poetry is beyond words. Daas will follow what you have said and will get the senchiya instead. Does anyone know anywhere where I can purchase the senchiya? Thanks. I am sorry if I offended anyone by asking an ignorant question but I was just enquiring before doing something big and I am glad that I did ask.
