Bhai Sahib Jee,

thanks for starting this thread but its really hard to learn tabla without a teacher physically present. You'll most likely learn the 'taals' wrong. They are called "TAALS" not raags.

This taal you posted is called Kehrwa Taal. Its in Four beats. It should've been written in this format.

Dhage Naati Nage Dhina

Notice how I underlined each beat because there are Four beats they have to written in the format so you play each underlined words in one beat. Personally I don't like this taal. It just doesn't sound very pleasent to me. But most raagis and tabla teachers teach this taal first. Anyway Here's the common taal played in AKJ keertans.

Dhata Ge Tata S*

*S means skip a beat. This

is also another form of Kehrwa so it also has 4 beats. You have to skip the last beat meaning don't play anything. Hope this helps for now. Here's another commonly played kehrwa.

DHatoo Ge Tatoo S

LOL, those two are common for rehinsbhais

Actually,

its Ge Tin Ta Tin S Tin Dha Tin

Pheena Ji, online tutorials are rubbish! Best to find a physical teacher who can give u input as to wot to do next, or to improve this etc

Oh and its tabla, not tablas

oi dnt call me that, i aint gud enuff to be called Gurudev...no way...im still learning....

a taal is a cycle of rythmic beats, e.g

8 Beats is Keherva. Also each cycle consists of points of emphasis...so there can be more than one "taal" will the same number of beats.

A bol is a composition in a taal, so ge tin ta tin S tin da tin, is a bol in keherva...bols also have subcategories, but i wont go into that, gets toooo complicated LOL
