amritdhari old Singhs or babas drinking glassy while wearing gatra?

Listening to Panjab Radio today. There was a discussion on the Friday topic between 12 - 2pm

 

One aunty ji came on and complained about Men with full white beards khulla prakas, wearing gatray, drinking glassy at parties (I presume mostly wedding parties) and throwing money over dancers (I think she said it was dancers). I think she was talking about Ilford mostly, but could be other areas. I think she also complained about them scanning women up and down in Ilford.

 

I haven't seen this happening myself, with old men wearing gatray drinking shraab,  in uk or Panjab?

 

Can someone on here clarify if this happens often? This aunty ji seemed to imply it's happening amongst some men and family parties at least.

While drinking alcohol is never a good thing, hearsay about such things may be unreliable. The fact is, at wedding receptions, everybody goes: children, drinkers, and non-drinkers.

Obviously, there are both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available.

Are the aunties absolutely sure the uncles were drinking whiskey?

I hate the way people throw money. It's usually a manmukh tradition to show how wealthy you are and you can just throw rupees around.

Lol this is so common. This is the average wedding. Plus nowadays auntiyaan and young girls are dressing half naked in lenghas and saris and stuff or literally sometimes even a western dress. Men freely dance with women. Plus they hire some naked belly dancer or hire some Bhangra team dancing like monkeys at ur wedding. It’s awful. I assume it’s Punjabi culture.

Let’s not mention all the men getting drunk and trying to hit on the women at the weddings. 

So many young folks skip the gurudwara wedding too because it’s boring and they can’t get lit even though that’s the main part of the wedding & most important.

Amritdhari men and women are less likely to engage in such activities tho, I don’t see them doing this, when they get invited to such weddings they sit in the corner and refuse to engage or dance and such. 

I’m marrying into a non Punjabi family and me and my partner went to a Sikh wedding recently because he’s never experienced one and he was shocked and said he thought Sikhs were way more conservative.

Yes I had first time experienced seeing the mix dance about 7 years ago. I was confused! There used to be a huge gap between men n women dancing. Not even rajje shraabis dared cross that line. Oh! And wha was the music in the mix dance?? Ed Sheeran Shape of you!

One thing can be clarified is these Babe have failed and fallen in their jivans sadly. 

When we fail at work we rectify and make sure we don't make same mistake again or worry about the consequences. Same with driving lessons we prepare ourselves before the examiner. 

 But when we fall in our spiritual jivan??? Things are different. It can be Punjab, Ilford or Venus failure is something we should get back up n improve. 

Does it happen often? IDK about that. My Chacha in Punjab had taken Amrit then he took off gatra before consuming meat n alcohol again.

Your chacha should read a book. More importantly. Itias and read rehitname. Also read sgpc rehit which allows Sikhs to consume meat.

These unclassy women family members, have spolied family parties along with the males who can't hold their drink, some of them maybe don't even reach uncle category.

 

I guess it's time to just do celebrations at gurdwara because of these behjti people!

Would be good if some gurdwaras had a hall nearby and allowed Singhs to jhatka for the post-wedding celebration! Have the protesters gone old, have the youth got more knowledge about jhatka?  Wedding parties were good and all, but the girls don't know how to dress anymore and ruin the family values, so families might need to stop these parties!
