hi i just wanted to ask the sangat out there what there view's are on playing video games/streaming on Twitch/being a youtuber are. Based on gurmat, and personal experince from gursikhs. I have a passions for gamming and i was wondering is it allowed in sikhism. Also i am amritdhari trying to follow the guru teachings. Like i dont see how playing video games as a job hurt anyone, mabye it can have a indirect affect on some people but i think it is honest work were you work hard, dont take anything from some one, no stealling, you dont expolit some one. How much you put in how much you get. Some games are like Call of duty, Halo, Destiny, League of legend. I do also get that getting to atachted to a job or video is bad for your spritual path. Like is it possible if a sikh to still have passions for a job and still be a spritual person, or you have to slowy decrease your maya so you are not attached to anything, and you feel peace/pleasure with only naam and God's name?

Long hours of gaming can cause BP, hypertension & other psychological problems. Therefore you must learn how to stay healthy in this line of work.

Simran & meditation like gaming requires focus if you can balance your Spiritual life with gaming job then it is okay.

It has become an over-saturated field unfortunately. Every man and his dog is gaming and streaming, so whilst it's not impossible to be successful, you've got to realise that staking your entire future on it probably isn't the best idea. If you view it as a part-time / weekend activity, then you'll probably be the better for it. Plus, being a Sikh might be your USP and will help you to stand out from the thousands of others that do the same thing. Just don't embarrass yourself, and by extension, other Gursikhs by spouting gandh or behaving like an a55 to get views and subscribers, lol.

Good luck, bro. You'll need to work hard, but it could be something that will take off.

It's not a Bhujer Kurehit, (I play video games as well, mostly for the storyline). The hard thing is getting on YouTube and being popular enough to not be a bad human being, (that's not just gaming, just the way media works and other people). Kirat Karni simply means honest work, live truthfully is better than not being attached or being attached.

Don't over do it...You can relate video game with spirituality as well, for example- while playing you may have encounter a feeling into the game that despite of outcome of the game you are unchanging/unaffected person sitting on a computer chair that despite of atrocities in the video game like you the character in the game got killed, someone run you over, despite of all that nothing happened in real life, you are still same.

Life is bit like video game because we see this world as separate world with its own independent reality that is mentioned as maya-illusion in gurbani shalok nauvan as per our ninth satguru tegh bahudar ji, create a bridge between you- pure awareness and multi world- viritual gaming world / the world you call real now and watch the drama unfold. More and more you create bridge between you and world/thoughts/sense perceptions more identification is lost - ready for transcendence into absolute reality/truth which mool mantar talks about.

Thx for all the sangat suggestions's, it is kinda werid that there is no sikh gamer heheh, mabye that can be my core point , but i also gotta be careful becuase i represent the sikh faith/Khalsa too and sikh identity. Also for the point you made that everyone is a youtuber these day's, there is lots of competion. I do have a full time job i just wanna try to make a career out of this/ if not my backup is bussiness. Any tips for being a youtuber/ Twitch Streamer as a sikh. Atucally got another question about maya, like so how can we have a passion for something when in guru granth sahib it say's always mediate on god name 24 hours, is that our ultimate goal to work towards, obviously i am not on a high sprirtual level right now. Also know that guru's hukam is do honest work truthfully, but how can a average person live truthfully in the dirty of maya, that isnt that high spritualy And yes i will try to be not a$$ being a youtuber/Streammer, hopefully with guru ji blessing may the sangat and guru ji guide me to the right path.

Well to be popular on YouTube you have to start posting your channel to the different forums related to what your going to produce. It takes a really long time to be popular but it can be done.
