VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/onlineex/apac/other/033ori000002748u00031v00.html

The metadata seems to state that this saroop is lying on a bookshelf in the British Museum (or perhaps library, not sure) and there is concern that there is no Satkaar of Gurbani being done.

To be clear - I am saying Adi Granth Sahib because this saroop would not have the Bani of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib (from the dates provided).

http://www.sikhsentinel.com/sikhsentinel0301/britishbir.htm - this article may in connection to it.

Can some of the UK Sikhs look into this please?

Also from what I had heard is that is open on display on same page for some time ...we really should get it installed in Gurdwara .

Can we put "Adi"(Guru) Granth Sahib Ji in a Gurdwara without it being the full Saroop. (Not everyone agrees on RaagMala; however, every Saroop has that, yet it's most likely that there is no debate on Salok Mahalla 9 being Bani).

Gurbani is satkar yog wherever it is , in a pothi or a gutka ...it is foolish to argue against showing respect, remember Guru Arjun Dev ji lay on the ground to show his respect to this Adi Granth Sahib ji if Guru did this, there are no questions . Given what is happening in Punjab , it is our duty to rectify this situation . If it is post Bhai Gurdas ji then it most probably is full Granth Sahib as it stood then 1660-1670 why does it exist ? why was it necessary to ask Dhir mal for saroop, just illustrating that Guru's house ends with Guru Gobind Singh ji ?

I know that we should respect all forms of Bani, but I'm just wondering if it counts as a full saroop to be at the Gurdwara? I'm sorry if I sounded like bani wasn't important.

I think we can have it kept under chadoiya and have sukhasan and prakash done as it supposed to be done rather than cracked open in one page for years on end and kept on a regular shelf with other books above its level and people walking around it with shoes on . handled by technicians who have no clue as to satkar and shucham.

On a side note...

Did you know that the British Library also own copies of the Dasam Granth? They own quite a number of precious early and modern sikh manuscripts, artifacts etc

I've no idea how theyre stored but they certainly arent sitting on a bookshelf. Theyre not accessable by just anyone. They wont be given the proper respect and regalia but they are treated as historic documents and thus given the respect that precious historical manuscripts deserve. Something we can learn a lot from. Many of these manuscripts and artifacts probably wouldnt exist had they been left in our hands.

The british library is an archive of many many manuscripts from every corner of the world. Its a treasure house.

There is also no way that they will part with these priceless manuscripts.

somethin my Dad had said about dasam Pita's shastars , there is a reason why they are here , we need to find out what they have and make proper arrangements to have them given back to the kaum

Our kaum cannot handle itself. Stuff is going crazy in Punjab and our jathedars are all over the place. Let the British keep guru Ji's shastars until we get our s.hit in order. We can't just bring them here while the whole state of Punjab is crazy!

Shastars are in Anandpur , remember Charlie boy took them back in the eighties ? I meant Overseas (UK sangat) should make a move to show proper satkar to our gurbani to underline just how important we feel about it , which also helps gorey lok to understand why we are protesting so hard in Panjab.
