Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa | Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/gurunanakgurdwara-singhsabha Guru Nanak Gurdwara Singh Sabha is the oldest Gurdwara Sahib in Preston, Lancashire, UK. Established in 1966, the Gurdwara Sahib has been a special place of learning and worship for Sikhs community and alike. Situated in the heart of the city centre and close to the university, the Gurdwara Sahib has served both the international students and the homeless community in Preston. Over the past decade the demands from the building have grown however, the community has been restricted due to costs of the project and the state of the buil…

Wasn't Guru Arjan Dev's martyrdom on amd always commemorated on 6th June? How come it was 30th May? Just like 6th June 84, where the likes of Terrorists like Indira Gandhi chose to attack Darbar Sahib where many many innocent Sikhs would suffer, as they went to commemorate Martyrdom of Maharaj.

I read in the past that gatka is derived from a performance art practiced by some Muslims called khutka, as opposed to being descended from sastarvidiya. Could this be a form of khutka? https://www.facebook.com/reel/426824127191317 https://www.facebook.com/share/r/18neut1wLW/

There are only 4 castes in India and Jatt isn't one of them. "Jatt" is a sub-community within a caste, not a caste itself. And we (I'm jatt so don't call me offensive lol) aren't even that high, we only rank 3rd out of the 4 castes but have become very respected due to our presence in Punjabi media and the amount of land we own as a community. How is being proud of being Jatt "wrong" in Sikhi - we're not proud of our "caste" (we can't be cos it's not even a high one lol). If anything, Jatts have helped beat the Indian caste system. We literally rose from its bottom to people admiring our lifestyle. So "Jatt" shouldn't be a taboo topic in Sikhi until it becomes one (e…

I was at the Slough Singh Sabha gurdwara last week. I think he was a teen, a tall young Singh got a deep gash wound on his arm from gatka, somewhere near his wrist. He was already on the floor when I entered through the langar hall, but I am sure he did it to himself not through a gatka "battle". I am unsure which shastar he used. I checked and the shastars seemed lightweight for the children. I picked up the khanda and it was light, not like a real khanda. I really want to emphasise that we should not be promoting twirly sword dancing as a "sikh martial art". This young Singh was hurting and gasping - why are we teaching twirling swords around in a way tha…

In the coming years its going to get tough for minorities living abroad, especially for the Sikh community. There is political meddling between the bigger countries (i.e., India, Uk, Canada) in which we are getting caught in the crossfire. Stay blessed🙏 WJKK WJKF

I tie a Punjabi style dastar with starch. Why do people hate this so much? Once I was tying my dastar and my neck seized up. The apna doctor said holding that position daily for more than 5 mins is dangerous. He recommended a starched pagg like his dad ties. I took the advice but I still respect Dastar more than life. If someone TREATS their Dastar like a hat just because they don't tie it each time then this is unacceptable but just because one puts their pagg on their head rather than tying it each time doesn't mean they treat it as such. (and let's be honest, starched or not we've all put our dad's pagg on our head like a hat when we were kids as a joke and meant…

Sangat ji, What is the best way of YOU doing charity seva??? These days giving spare change on d streets, we accuse the people asking to be druggies / alcoholic. Giving online companies keep 80 or 90% of donations and CEO can be robbers / misuse money. Local charity Sevadars at Gurudwara we assume they use our donations to purchase stuff for Gurudwara. We do not trust any charitable donations in India due to its rep. On top there's debate on "Dasvand." Some say £10 per month very few say "If u earn £2700 a month thas £270 gone to charity." How do YOU do Dasvand d seva each month?
