Is it ok for me to do ardaas infront of a bahu-shabadi asa di vaar gutka which is very big (300 pages of shabads) and do ardas in front of it after doing nitnem and take hukam from it after ardaas? Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh! Hi sangat, i really needed advice on a certain issue that has been bothering me. When I was in about gr. 9 i had received amrit from the 5 beloved ones with guru jis kirpa (i'm in uni now)...as my high school years progressed i started to weaken and weaken in my sikhi and finally in my gr. 12 year i guess you could say i "rebelled" and tried how meat tasted like and even just trimmed my dhari a little bit (completely pointless)...after i finished my first year of uni i thought to myself that i'm an <banned word filter activated> and i need my guru ji....I decieded that i'm going to enter my second year of uni as an amrit…

Is Judging A Potential Partner On Their Financial Security Right Or Wrong?
by Guest OzzySingh- 9 replies

Sat Sri Akaal to the Sikh Sangat community, I have been browsing the forums for quite some time but this would have to be my first post to date. The topic at hand is that I would like to gather and understand some of your opinions on what is in my eyes an issue that requires clarification. Firstly allow me to quickly describe myself. I'm a 22 year old Sikh Male currently in my third year of studying Medicine. Although born and raised in the UK my family moved to Australia when I was in my mid teens. As I come from a fairly financially secure family I couldn't help but wonder is it right to judge someone on their financial wealth? As I've grown up I've often come acr…

Thing is the little things get me confiused and worried, everyone sasy let go of the past, and stuff, I did some pretty dumb things in the past and I feel stupid but im over it im sure, only sometimes does it come to haunt me, but everything now worries me, I feel as though I m not the bestist friend or best daughter, why do i feel this way, when now im closest to god? vaheguru …

Where do I fit in this structure

So I am the eldest child of 2nd gen Punjabi parents in the west. Ive had an ordinary upbringing with the unfortunate timid father and aggressive overbearing mother. Hope some of you can relate. One of my siblings is a plain arrogant, small minded <banned word filter activated>. My mother practically worships this child (2nd youngest) and can do no wrong. One day I’m in the town on my way back home and I ring sibling to say, is it ok I drop in and visit you for a couple of hours? Sibling goes no sorry bit busy, another time ok? Sure thing I say. No problem. Little further towards home I ring parents to say trip went well etc. Parents say we’re on o…

Wedding Venue Advice..

Fateh all I feel I need the sangats ijaazat on the below... I'm getting married shortly and am proposing to get married in an country estate and fields, specifically in a marquee. The wedding will be purely gursikh with utmost satkar given to maharaj. The local gurdwaray don't offer this sahoolat. As I will dictate how the ceremony is done, maybe I can help set trends generally. No deejays. No alcohol. No meat. No dancing. Also Non of that nonsense where people give pounds to ragi after lava and during anand sahib and give vadaiya like buffalo ranch. And everyone would only get up once maharaj has gone. It would be epic and groundbreaking. Simply.. Anand karaj.…

Alright, I'm sure all of you reading this already know why I'm posting this, & I wish whoever is reading this, will: first read the following purple points before reading the rest of my stuff in black **(I know that many people are against this kind of topic, & I know that many ppl would not like it if something like this were to be openly discussed in front of ni-ya-ney (little ones), therefore I didn't use the full 'key' word in the topic title) *Forgive me if I upset anyone **I am not trying to prove any points to someone with the feedback I will receive. I am asking for my knowledge, & that's it **Even though it's none of your business, for those of y…

I am 21 ,I just moved to a new city as part of my job, and I don't know why but I guess its due to the kind of water here , that I have been experiencing hair fall. Due to nature of work , I have to tie my hair back again in an hour or so (due to less time), so I think my hair don't get enough sunlight . And from past few weeks , each time I wash my hair (usually on sunday) , I have more and more hair fall , although I eat good ,the problem is still there. Also please advice me remedies to increase density of hair again , some parts of my head have very less hair as compared to other. I don't feel good each time a single hair falls

Landlocked Country , Will The Idea Appeal To All People
by Guest in_search_of_answrs- 4 replies

SSA to all fellow Sikhs, I have small query. If we are supporting this movement of independent state. Will it be land locked country? A sea connection is big must for any nation to get forward in trade what people think on this. Will the state have survived on good relation ship with Muslim Pakistan & other close Hindu nation for trade? I expect some rational reasoned answers to my query. Nepal is not doing very good economically. If want to sell this idea to people in general , we need convincing answers with our self first. See Scotland is moving toward tha…

Hello everyone. My (Sikh) parents did not approve of my choice of partner for marriage. I was honest from day one and told them I had met a Sikh guy and we get on etc. However, my mum in particular was strongly against my choice of partner due to caste. I took the big step and chose to marry my partner because I don’t believe in caste. My parents did not attend the wedding. I am happily married and have been blessed with a child. However it saddens me that my parents and my extended family have disowned me and have never visited me. What infuriates me is my mums behaviour. Around two years ago she went through the Amrit Sanchar ceremony. My understanding is that m…
