Yet Another Amritvela Question
by Guest My name- 7 replies
- 1.3k views
Gurmukh pyaareyo I am a student in a university, and have classes only 2 days a week. One day its a little late in the evening, and the other day its late in the afternoon, followed another one late in the evening. On other days I may be hopefully working in the daytime. My question is this: Would it be alright to wake up for Amritvela, do your ishnaan, Nitnem, and then go back to sleep for sometime before you start you day? I ask this because getting up at Amritvela and then going to class late in the evening or later afternoon would make one's body pretty tired and unable to concentrate. I know some may not agree with going back to sleep after Amritvela Nitnem, but du…

Yoga Ecovillage---- Excellent Thinking By Non-sikhs
by Guest sauu_singh- 0 replies

A beautiful ecovillage is being set up in the Salt Spring Islands in BC, Canada. http://www.yogaecovillage.com/ It is a beautiful concept of living a self sufficient healthy life and searching for spirituality. If non-sikhs can think of such a lifestyle, WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO NAAM ABHIYAASI SINGHS OF CANADA ?????????????????????????????????????? We have the SAT NAAM, GURU GRANTH SAHIB AND DASAM GRANTH JEE. Non-sikhs dont have this but still they are searching for spirituality and want to live in harmony with nature. I think ITS TIME FOR BC SIKHS TO WAKE UP. Stop pleasing your boss, running after money is fast paced city life. Its time to live in harmony with nature,…

young dumb and Sikh + beard question... 1 2
by Guest P.s.k- 12 replies

Hi, I have a few questions and opinions I would like to get off my chest, wondering whether anybody could offer some answers and opinions. Firstly, Is there a difference between tying up ur beard (with gel) and trimming? Is tying up your beard allowed as per rehat? Im a young kesh Dhari Singh and I have a crippling fear of regret, I have never cut my kesh and I know I will regret it if I trim, but I also feel like when I'm old I will regret it if I don't, I kinda just want to make the mistake and atleast experience what it feels like to be an average 20 year old for once, I was very immersed in sikhi when I was a young teen and i don't know why but …

Hi guys I was talking to a 14 year old Sikh named Navjot Singh on facebookfrom Jammu whose family took in his best friend who is a non-Sikh after his parents kicked him out of their home and he told me his parents have forbade his best friend to cut his hair and have forced him to wear a patka. What do you guys think of this.

Young, dumb and following Sikhi
by Guest Why give up Sikhi?- 8 replies
- 1.1k views
I see lots of patka wearing boys into Sikhi up until about age 16. It’s like they are young and dumb (in a good way). Their mums tie their patka and it looks very smart, and bring them to the gurdwara regularly. But age 16 onwards what happens? First they tie their hair back with patka, then they tie African durags. It’s not uncommon to spot them wearing caps and topis. When the facial hair comes through it gets trimmed and shaped. Once 18 drinking and clubbing begins. Young and dumb (being innocent) gets replaced growing up, but what with? Is it fashion, bad sangat or something else? What are your thoughts? Because it’s a real shame. Some kids who were s…

Daas is sure that this has happened to 90% of the sangat. So you finish your Langar, and then a gursikh approaches you and tries to take your plate. What do you do?
