JALANDHAR: The US was convinced of the Congress government's hand in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and termed it as "opportunism" and "hatred" of the government against Sikhs. A WikiLeaks expose — that revealed a cable sent from the US Embassy in August 2005 soon after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's apology to Sikhs following the Nanavati Commission report — said, "The PM's singular act of political courage stands in exqu…

Have you guys noticed the amount of biases on particularly Jatt articles. By Indian admins, presumably Hindus who favor more of a Hindu bias. For example just read the Jatt article, and then look in the discussion section to see the Indian admins favoring Indian editors and their revisionism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jat_people They try to add things like: "non-elite, peasants, and tillers" none of these things are heard of in Pakistani Punjabi, the Jatts in Pakistan are considered powerful landlords a system kind of based similar to the feudal system, many Jatts in Pakistan don't necessarily till their own land, they get others to do it, they pay people maybe in …

A day after the Punjab and Haryana High Court restored voting rights to Sehajdhari Sikhs, SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar said they would not let the verdict go unchallenged while reiterating that the judgment would have no impact on the newly constituted SGPC House. Talking to mediapersons here today, Makkar claimed “the court didn’t go into the details as to who was a Sehajdhari Sikh and merely passed its order on the notification barring Sehajdhari Sikhs from voting in the SGPC elections”. “The court has termed the notification invalid and has only given the legal point of view in the verdict,” he said. Makkar sounded confident that there would be no glitch in the func…

Will India's religious minorities gain from having Sikh prime minister? By: LAURINDA KEYS - Associated Press NEW DELHI ---- For the first time in the 57-year history of its democratic government, Hindu-majority India has a member of a minority religion ---- Manmohan Singh, a Sikh ---- as its prime minister. That's more than trivia; it marks a potential turning point for India, a nation where massacres of thousands of people because of their religious faith have occurred under governments of not only the Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, that ruled for the past six years, but under Singh's Congress Party as well. Indeed, Singh's first pledge was to ensure the…

US President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle are visiting India in early November 2010. In this connection Obama conveyed to Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna at a reception of Natural History Museum in New York. Obama added that his wife Mrs. Michelle is excited about the trip. Indian leadership is anxiously waiting to welcome the president of global power because of obvious reasons. But the victims of the Hindu’s holocaust are waiting that whether the head of a global power has the courage to ask Indian leadership to end Hindutve Terror. By punjabi culture i mean the giddha by women at lohri or weddings, or the bhangra by men and women at vaisakhi melas...the singers holding melas, the rowdiness, the late night card games etc. The occasional amli cracking jokes with the sharre, or bachelors. The young student doing taur, with his new pagh and western clothes and "scent", punjabi english word for cologne , etc etc, i guess others can share their views on what makes up Punjabi culture..... How will the formation of Khalistan impact current Punjabi culture if there will even be an impact? I want to get people's feedback because many opponents of Khalistan bring up this question and say that if there w…

Speaking exclusively to The Tribune on the issue, Law Minister Salman Khursheed said he was aware that the issue was a highly emotional one for the Sikhs who had long agitated for the same. “We are open to examining good proposals that help us resolve the issue. Let someone come up with a modern, sensible idea regarding what can be done and we will examine the same. But we do not want to end one trouble an…
