What are your thoughts on this recent article? https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/sikh-separatists-in-canada-drawing-ire-in-indian-media-before-trudeau-visit-1.3792889 Here are my thoughts: You know you are on the wrong side of history, when you attack freedom of speech. "Sikh relgious sucessionism"? LoL! Have they ever read Sikh history or Gurbani? Its common sense to those who are educated on Sikhi that the Sikh Panth is meant to be distinct from others and be independent. The Khalsa is literally meant to be a sovereign army and institution all in one, that only answer's to the Guru, that by itself isnt legal in ano…

This may be an old article but it's extremely relevant to the Sikh community today. Just look around at our own extended families and we witness the extreme binge drinking which occurs on weekends, weddings, family functions. Quote from the article "It seems that Sikhs are particularly susceptibility to alcoholism. Sikh men tend to drink more spirits than beer. Spirits are stronger than other alcohols and cause more damage. Drinking culture is common in Sikh population in the UK, possible due to the acceptance of drinking in working men's culture and military culture. Many Sikh families migrated here during the Second World War when they were recruited to fight in the…

Taken from akj.org phorum http://www.akj.org/phorum/read.ppa?f=3&i=12665&t=12665 THE WASHINGTON TIMES, JUNE 22, 1989 (BY BARRY BROWN) Toronto.--A new book by two Canadian journalists claims the 1985 bombing of an Air India jetliner that killed 329 persons over the Atlantic Ocean off Ireland was an intelligence operation by the government of India that went awry. `Soft Target' by Zuhair Kashmeri, an editor at the Toronto Globe and Mail, and Brian McAndrew, an editor at the Toronto Star, accuses the Indian government of funding and encouraging Sikh terrorist groups as a means of discrediting the movement in North America. I cannot copy and paste the article but here is the full article http://singhstation.net/2014/04/turban-is-a-cultural-tradition-for-sikhs-and-has-nothing-to-do-with-religion-says-sikh-council-of-australia Brief summary: The Secretary of the SIkh Council of Australia Bawa Singh Jagdev was interviewed by writer of a News Herald on Sikhs and their identity of the turban. He goes on and states how the turban is a cultural tradition and has to do nothing with our religion. This was apparently the same Singh back in 2007 who said no to kirpans in school. Its people like him who give spread false agenda and are still given a position in the Sikh Council.
