Sikhs are the biggest slaves right now in Punjab and all of India. Those that are doing Jhatka, doesn't matter what they call themselves, what are they doing to curve this slavery? Rest of the Panth are civilians, so we are unable to do Jhatka and don't have that warrior spirit in us. Surely the one's doing Jhatka must have that warrior spirit in them, so why not be the Akali Satguru told them to be and go out and defend the hopeless civilians that are in need? Sant Baba Nihal Singh ji showed the whole Panth what it means to do Jhatka, but where are the rest that wear blue, train in arms, do Jhatka, eat Jhatka, and take Shaheedi Degh? Keeping history alive is a great thing and the Khalsa Panth is in debt to those that keep it alive, but the same people have not acted on this history, which is to give them the warrior spirit for decades now. A very few only have showed this warrior spirit. The whole purpose of the warrior rehat is to use it when it is needed. Either say the warrior spirit wasn't needed for all these decades or come to reality and realize something else is going on here and we as a Panth are turning a blind eye to it because we don't want to face the truth.

Absolute pathetic post by someone who has no faith in the abilities of Khalsa warfare or the Martyrdom of the forefathers of our faith. To justify taking intoxicants to give one the confidence to face sure death takes away the shine off the sacrifices and pain endured by those great souls that laid down their lives for the Sikh faith. Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, Bhai Taru Singh Ji, Baba Deep Singh Singh Ji, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale Ji and countless Shaheeds from modern and past era never used any intoxicant potions to attain martyrdom. Also to clarify "Bhang is Marjuana"! The base ingredient is not Tobacco or Alcohol it is simply Marujuana which is crushed into a paste and mixed into a Milk drink with nuts. Tobacco is especially frowned upon in Sikhism because it causes harm and contaminates its surroundings which is why it is called 'Jagat Jooth' in Sikhism. Bhang falls into the categories of Alcohol and Drugs that affect the mind. All of these have been forbidden in Sikhism. So making exemptions for it's use for the battlefield and giving it a new name does not take away the fact of it still being a intoxicant. No Singh or shaheed needs or relied on Bhang to face their enemy on the battlefield. The only thing those great souls were intoxicated with was the name of the Guru, Their Belief in Bani! Use your brain and ask your soul for these answers and I'm sure no one can believe that the Guru needed chemicals to trick the mind of his Singhs to convince them of being able to face their enemy. We are way to strong to rely on any form of intoxicants! Balwant Singh Rajoana is facing his enemy today and he is no way or form relying on Shaheedi Degh/Bhang. He is intoxicated on Naam Simran!

I feel that these protests are a good idea, but we are sending the Wrong message. Instead of saying "free Bhai balwant Singh", we would should be saying that "we stand 100% by your desicion Bhai sahib and support it, but this decision by the courts is wrong"

wjkk wjkf I think we sould respect Balwant Singh Rojana's wishes, he has obviously prepared for this shaheedi. Delaying it in my opinion is not desirable for a soorma like Balwant Singh. He knows that with his shaheedi it can only make the panth stronger. Of course it is very distressing seeing someone like BALWANT SINGH be given the death sentence. however in my mind by delaying the date it will cause the panth to lose momentum in the cause for justice, for awareness. Sometimes I think that Sikhs are unable to tell the difference between someone that is genuinely working in the interests of the Panth and an agent. I remember reading a topic along the lines of how to spot an RSS agent. If anyone watched the southall conference and still cant figure out who the real RAW agent is then they are beyond help. Clue: there are a limited number of controversial things to say that are bound to spark off a ruckus between the members of our religion. Therefore, over time, the Panth has taken the decision via consensus to respect each other's feelings and allow each individual their own choice of belief in a small number of matters. Most Sikhs will respect another's feelings and avoid bringing up a divisive topic. Which leaves the other so called "Sikhs". Guess who they are likely to be. Hey presto. Now u know how to spot a RAW agent.

Looking back, one thing that was a negative of the movement was the insularity mentioned in the article. People didn't seem to realise the importance of outside PR, and the GOI did, and did all they could to slander the movement. Also later people with dubious discipline seem to have joined up for the wrong reasons - this mixed with the actions of 'black cat' infiltrators alienated the general Sikh public. I imagine it must be quite hard for some younger readers to fully grasp a time without the digital communication technology we take for granted today. Had it been around then, the truth (on all sides) would have been easier to establish.
