  2. This has been bothering me for some time now. It is as the title says, why does our respect for life stop with vegetarianism? When I suggest Sikhs should consider becoming vegan, it is become of the horrendous atrocities that occur within the dairy industry. Cows are forcefully artificially inseminated so that they get pregnant and lactate (produce milk) Their calves are taken from them so they don't drink the profits and then slaughtered for veal. They spend their whole lives in chains and being abused. Becoming pregnant and producing milk so often that raw milk is full of blood, puss and infection. They are injected with hormones and bred so that their udders swell to unnatural sizes, causing them immense pain, just so they are able to produce more.. Is this right? Can Sikhi justify this? I've reached a point where I've started to laugh at Sikhs that claim to be righteous because they are vegetarian because to kill for meat is wrong, but don't want to hear about dairy abuse. Is torturing for milk acceptable? It would be more humane to just kill the animal and take its meat rather than let it live and make it suffer! Perhaps Guruji never condemned the use of milk because perhaps in their time it was different. Perhaps there was not this evil level of greed that exists today. People just took what they needed/could from their farm cows. But times have changed and the treatment of cows in dairy farms is absolutely barbaric. How can we as Sikhs allow this to happen? The truth about dairy is no secret. There are volumes of information available, just as there are about the truth of meat industries. Yet why have Sikhs not taken an official stand to no longer be part of this cruelty? How can we happily be just vegetarian when true respect and value for life comes from being vegan?

  4. kudos to poster ... No animal in nature drinks other species' milk. And no animal drinks even their own mother's milk after being weaned. In earlier times milk was needed coz there were not enough calories to go around.

  5. Conquering doesn't mean what you think it means. You can defeat Afghans in a battle...but it is very hard to maintain control over them. They'll keep on fighting and fighting... See Soviet-Afghan war or even U.S in Afghanistan.. I won't invade Afghanistan without any valid reason...It can become a headache

  7. I think we should go back to the old ages when only Amritdharis could marry at a Gurdwara and all the rest marry somewhere, by some other rites because Anand Karaj is you trying to follow the Guru and he's the center, you can slowly progress into Sikhi but don't get married in a Gurdwara if you can't live and die for Sikhi(Simple as that).

  8. Look, let me break it down for you, plain and simple. You ask these 2 what is their priority in life. If they say anything other than Sikhi, they can go and get married on the beach for all anyone cares. If its Sikhi which is their priority, then they wouldn't be having a non-Sikh spouse to begin with as they would want the seed of Sikhi to grow, develop and flourish in all their generations to come. If their priority is getting married to a good looking significant other, having lots of money, mansions, flashy cars, they can go and get married on an aircraft for that matter. Let them first decide what their priorities are.

  9. Militant attitude? Since when is standing up for your faith a "militant attitude"? Perhaps this is why Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale was also branded as a terrorist by the Indian regime, like he cared. I repeat, we wish them all the best and hope all the joys of life come their way. Let me tell you something, with a lot of love and compassion, and STRAIGHT from Gurbani. In Sikhi its all about discipline. The fact that our people have turned slack in their Rehit and have become easy-going, the fact that they want Sikhi to be ਖੁੱਲੀ-ਡੁੱਲੀ according to their own tastes is the reason why we have people (both Sikhs and non-Sikhs) always questioning and doubting every other thing these days. If the entire creation is following a discipline created by Vaheguru Himself, what is wrong in living a disciplined life and to get married based on a discipline? Those who choose to inter-marry, for the third time, I repeat, we wish them all the best and hope all the joys of life come their way. At the same time, if they choose to disobey the discipline of only Sikhs being married in the paavan-pavittar hajuri of Dhann Dhann Sahib Sri Guru Sahib Ji Maharaj, no one is under any obligation to allow them to do what they want. Its not upto us to decide if God approves of such a marriage. But the commandments we (atleast we Sikhs) have from the Guru Sahibaan in Gurbani are the most pristine and ultimate commandments from the Divine which we adhere to. Anyone who chooses not to, is free to do so. But they better not expect to walk over those who are committed to this discipline. We are in no way pushing people away from Sikhi. To be honest, these guys are pushing Sikhi away from themselves as they refuse to abide by the basic tenets. Sorry to be blunt, but if someone calls himself/herself a Sikh, it means he/she follows (or tries to follow) a code of conduct laid out by Guru Sahib. If not, then why call yourself something you are not? In the modern world its another form of plagiarism!

  10. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Standing is per the Sikh Rehat Maryada: "The boy and girl, after every circumambulation, should bow before the Guru Granth Sahib in genuflexion, lowering their forehead to touch the ground and then stand up to listen to the recitation of the next stanza. " http://new.sgpc.net/sikh-rehat-maryada-in-english/ - Page 14 The sitting down is reflected in the Taksal Maryada (and by extension, potentially other Sampardayic/traditional groups in Sikhi): "The Ragee Singh is to perform Kirtan of the first Lav and the couple are to slowly walk around Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee (keeping Guru Sahib to their right-hand side), after which they are to bow to Guru Sahib and be seated. 12. Haha for real?! "Muslim casturation of genitalia"! Aka circumcision? Lol bro the "benefits" of Genital Mutilation were refuted long ago. Step into the 21st century.LOL "the precious semen fluid". O gosh i so hope our sisters dont read this! Ejaculation causes no change in "Tostestrone" (aka testosterone) levels. Semen does not contain testosterone either. Unless you have a special sort? Muslims use circumcision to manipulate and convert girls?! Wow...lol thats a new one. Also veeray, now you've given up masturbation, perhaps you have more time to work on your spelling? Instead of having "any girl [you] desire"? Puhaha thats made my day! Thanks

  13. She's brought more shame on her family and her own mother who she claims to be honouring. She obviously thinks that marrying a musla and having two kids with him somehow show how she is a strong woman but all she has done is bring more disgrace on her mother and her family. She is just following that idiotic Sangera woman who has made a career of dragging the community through the mud. Mind you having read the background of the case, her mother was having an affair with a work colleague when she was taken to India and murdered. If she wanted another man she should have divorced her husband at the very least.
