  1. Bro, asking if Suraj Prakash is "right" is a wrongheaded question. Any statement you care to make, other than Gurbani, is potentially "wrong". Even if you make a statement about the rate of acceleration of a mass, it can be wrong in another context. Suraj Prakash isn't Gurbani. It's a compendium of our history in poetic form. There may be some sakhis that are inaccurate. It's not a big deal. If we start removing every single thing written after 1708, we'll have nothing. And that's exactly what our enemies want. There's room for Gursikh discussion of individual sakhis. It's really simple: Because Gurbani says to read sakhis.

  2. Firstly, you have a problem with the language being used? What to do call a teacher? Ustaad (in Arabic/Islamic traditions), Aachaarya (in Bhaaratya/Hindu traditions) or Gurdev (in Panjabi/Sikh traditions). Maybe you'd like to police the language we use? Honestly, if you're that triggered by the type of language used, I'd dread to think what would happen to you if you came across someone who's name was actually "Gurdev"! A public forum probably isn't the place for you. I don't mind answering any point you've made regarding Nidar Singh (in fact, I'd invite you to ask), but I do not want to derail this thread. However, I will say this. As much as you slate Gurdev Nidar Singh Ji, he was one of the few/only people who stood behind the victims of Sukhas abuse. What does that tell you? And if you are going to reply, please come back with something conducive to this thread that would help support the victims of Sukhas abuse. Otherwise, please do not derail this thread, start a new one, and I'll see you there...

  3. As I've said for a while, if you've got kids or nephews and nieces of a certain age, foisting them onto others in a religious camp for a few days isn't going to turn them into little gianis. Keep them away from those places because you'll get religious predators making it their first port of call. There's probably a reason they're called a CAMP. If you're British you'll know. The clue is in the name.

  4. If all the teachings of the Guru's are in SGGS, then please tell me which ang I may find the teaching to have "Singh" in my name. If you can't find it, then can you please remove "Singh" from you name? Suraj Parkash Granth says that Guru Ji kept afeem (opioids) in a small box, which he gave to severely wounded Sikhs in battle, to alleviate their pain. What is wrong and shameful about that?

  5. All of our history of Guru Sahib's time period is based on these ancient granths like the Janam Sakhis, Mahima Prakash, Sri Gur Sobha, Suraj Prakash etc. If we discard these granths then we have nothing left on our Guru jees. It is only less than 2 to 3 percent of the Sakhis that are not according to Gurmat it doesn't mean we should discard the entire granth with all the authentic Sakhis. It's almost like throwing the baby along with the bath water. Kavi ji was a great scholar. Kavi Santokh Singh gathered Sakhis related to Guru Sahibaan where ever he could find them from all over Punjab. He wrote his monumental Granth in beautiful poetry which is why Katha is done of it for the benefit of Sangat.

  6. Sri Gurpratap Suraj Parkash Granth is a masterpiece in its own right. It is important to note that some accounts in it do not conform to the teachings of SSGS. When Kavi Santokh Singh did katha of ten Patshahi’s, he had helpers who helped to put this katha in to written form. It is important to note that some of these helpers were Devi worshippers. So, they would’ve tried to make Guru Ji look like a Devi worshipper. There were some people who took opium, and so told Santokh Singh that Guru Ji did too. This was the best way to cover their own shortcomings...by associating Guru Ji with it!!! A man named Sahib Singh was bribed by the British to claim that Raag Mala was not Gurbani. Sahib Singh told Santokh Singh to say that Raag Mala was not Gurbani. But reading this Granth, it is clear that Santokh Singh states that this is what he was told! I am not telling you what or not what to believe, but whenever you listen to parchar from anyone, please first look in to whose payroll or agenda they are on!!! New parcharaks are paid vast amounts of money to break the Khalsa spirit!!!

  8. Funny how the site automon on a Sikh site considers translations of Guru ji's words as unacceptable. Why don't we ban the use of the word ਮੂੜ in Gurbani too?

  9. Okay, but the whole story of how some older men essentially groom and 'turn' young vulnerable boys is something that doesn't get exposed because it is a norm amongst the ruling elites (as well as within certain priestly classes) in the west. These people have turned it into an art - like in posh boarding schools. Other ones further down the socio-economic scale target vulnerable street kids - often turning them into rent boys, and also somehow even turning some of them into paedos when they grow up. Yes, there are plenty of hetero paedos, but there are also plenty of paedos that are solely attracted to young males. It's very interesting that Guru ji has exposed this hundreds of years ago. See, dasmesh pita was no conservative, they didn't really believe in taboos like our people do now (probably white, protestant, victorian xtian influence from the colonial period). And please don't try and derail this important thread with your own personal issues.
