  1. this must be some stupid excuse to disgrace a Sikh @ --and one who is a MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT
  2. Khalistani Singh ji, you're right, Sikhism is the 5th largest religion yet we are largely unknown to the billions of people around the world. People may have seen guys or gals with turban/dastaar, but beside that they do not anything about Sikhism. As for your other points about who is to blame: First of all, I think the blame rests on the shoulders of our elders perhaps. :T: I say that because we learn a lot from our parents and in these western countries our parents are the first people who introduce us to Sikhism. I think that since migrating here, our elders have spent more time on working and making money and less time on teaching us about our faith. That is probably why our Sikh youth is drifting further and further away from Sikhi, like the boys with hair and pagg who cut their hair and adopt the western look. Secondly, the fault lies in the leadership as you said. Our people are building gurdwaras everywhere they go. The committee members have a difference of opinions and they split; one group goes elsewhere and builds a new gurdwara. And the cycle continues. If the people governing the gurdwaras can not stay united and resol ve differences, that says something strong and unfortunate about our future. When our leadership is not being responsible and credible (can't think of right words right now) the Sikh youth who have strayed from the path of Sikhi see this as an excuse maybe to dismiss the subject entirely and not care about Sikhi. I can't find the right words right now, but ya'll understand what I'm trying to say right? There is just no way gurudwaras nationwide in the USA can hold a joint conference meeting if one committee of one gurdwara can not to it for their own regular meetings. And of course we have leadership in India like Parkash Singh Badal former Chief Minister of Punjab who hasn't done much in his years of CM. He is said to have the most acreage of land than anyone else in Punjab. Seems like all he cared about really was power, land, money and his kursi. Most if not all leaders of India care very much about their KURSI. i will shut up now.
  3. o yeah, I also forgot to mention if you go on further in the link you'll find out that Tohra had a heart attack after the Kar Seva started... :T: that's kinda interestin since he was President of SGPC for 25 years before (I think) and people say he generally didn't do anything good to improve the systems in the gurdwaras like the bathrooms, etc. Wonder how that happened :T:
  4. nice pic, did you make it yourself Khalsa ji?
  5. Vicky: the pic on sikhpride.com doesn't show, I just get a little box with red X in it.
  6. I meant to say when ppl are gone the bhais .....read above reply, sorry missed the word "gone"
  7. Golden Temple's sarovar needs to be cleaned more often, I'm sorry to say but every time I've been the water has been full of algea, it's green, filthy...aargh and this is supposed to be PURE water right? I had been wondering for many years why they keep fish in the sarovar, after reading the article on the link now I know that they keep em to eat away at micro junk stuff in the water. My dad says that at night when ppl are the bhais in the gurdwara catch some fish and cook em and have dinner. Course that can't be true, it's just a joke
  8. So this Turban Day is happening everywear on Vaisakhi? Cool idea, it would inspire some of youth...
  9. I just checked out WICS, awesome site , we need more if there aren't a lot like this one out there. This is why we have been losing so many of our Sikh youth to other religions, not just Islam, although that is the popular one since the Guru's time. My personal opinion is that there is nothing wrong in falling in love with someone of another faith but don't forget your own faith.
  10. I've seen that guy in the Guinness Book of World Records too
  11. Son of Guru Gobind Singh ji, Could you translate that into gurmukhi or english please, hard to figure out what it says :T:
  12. I had so much written down and lost it @ @ @ anyway, good read and good points! I feel like our people are drifting further and further away from Sikhi, look in Punjab : you see more and more mona guys. Plenty of folks out there with a fat khanda in neck without a clue about Sikhi. Plenty of people who bring their expensive cars with special upgrades and stuff like spinners and put in the parade at the Yuba City Nagar keertan. I am sick of people who show off stuff like that. If you want to show off a car it ought to be like the Khalistan Security Force car (check it out at http://www.mkhalsa.com ) At least it's gotta show some Sikh Pride or something.
  13. Thanks for your suggestions and help! Pal Singh Purewal emailed me back and said that the date was Sunday May 29. Finally our family knows my dad's birthday, now we just have to call my Bibi Ji who is visiting India right now and ask her if my dad was born on a Sunday to verify. oh yeah, sikhnet finally responded to my query (I tried there too), they said contact SGPC....so much for their help @
  14. I think Rochak should be a Sikh model
  15. I just sent an email to Kartar Singh for the CD, if someone gets it before I do let us know how cool it is!
  16. Khalistani Singh ji, You bring up an interesting fact i did not know because : i have read stuff on Bhagat Singh before but of course they all write good stuff about him. i guess our people respect this man because he was punjabi maybe (i don't know for sure).... and there aren't a whole ton of well known famous punjabi or sikh people in history...i recognize many pictures of sikh martyrs but don't know their names or story
  17. That looks like one awesome wedding I have NEVER EVER heard of such a wedding in my entire life, and i've been to a lot of weddings. I would love to see such a gursikh wedding in my lifetime... love the pics
  18. Mkhalsa ji...dude...is the car real or not? if it is you should bring that to the Yuba City Nagarkeertan and have it in the parade...that would be so AWESOME
  19. no offense taken though... and no offense meant to you...
