  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! It's very encouraging that the vast majority of people here have come out in favour of the Parchaar being done by Sukha Singh Jee and willing to push forward for Panthik unity. However, the disappointing aspect of this thread is it highlights the very bad tendency amongst Sikhs to always criticise and shoot down anyone who is putting their head above the parapit and doing something positive for GurSikhi Parchaar, for example, Baba Ranjit Singh Jee and now Sukha Singh Jee. Waheguroo
  2. Looks like the same Singh, though in one photo, Bhai Sahib Anokh Singh Jee Shaheed is wearing a Dumaala, and the other one, a Patiala-Shahee style Dastaar. Waheguroo
  3. In the last 7-10 years, Professor Jee has veered towards a very hard core extreme "missionary" type stance/philosophy. He is very disrespectful of people who do not agree with his views and cusses the very Mahapurush (Baba Nand Singh Jee Kaleran Wale) that inspired him and his family towards Sikhi. Very surprising and disappointing for someone who was such an eminent personality of the Panth back in the 80's and early 90's. Waheguroo
  4. Amazing pics Khalistan_Zindabaad - Is that Baba Hari Singh Jee Randhawae Wale (second from left) with Baba Thakur Singh Jee in the Panj Pyaarae? Also, cool pic of Baba Jee with Baba Jaswant Singh Jee!
  5. Santoh Sagar Paar Outariyeh Jae Ko Bachan Kamaavae Santan Ka, So Gurparsaadi Tariyeh Har Har Jan Doae Aek Hae, Bib Bichaar Kussh Naih Jal Tae Upaj Trang Jio, Jal Hee Bikhae Sma-aeh Waheguroo
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Some valid points in original article, though there are massive generalisations/inaccuracies regarding the three main Sikhi Camps in the UK. These camps have been a source of Sikhi inspiration for many youth. Waheguroo
  7. Waheguroo - some amazing pics here Especially of the one of Sant Jarnail Singh Jee with Sant Jagjit Singh Jee :s
  8. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Jokazz doing nindyaa of Mahapursh. This Singh Sabha International website is the website of Ghagga and co. They say the website is dedicated to Professor Gurmukh Singh Jee and Giani Dit Singh Jee. What these guys don't know is the pyaar between these sevadaars of the Panth and the Mahapursh of which they are doing nindyaa. There's one occasion where there was a massive smaagam happening, where Sant Attar Singh Jee Mastuana Wale and Giani Dit Singh Jee were both present. At this smaagam, they didn't give parshaad to Giani Dit Singh Jee, because they called Giani Jee from a low caste. Sant Attar Singh Jee was so outraged at this Manmatt that he hugged Giani Jee in front of everyone and explained to the Sangat that if you cannot respect a Panthik Heera such as Giani Dit Singh Jee, then he will have nothing to do with them. At this point, Sant Jee and Giani Jee left the smaagam together. People realised their mistake and begged for forgiveness from Sant Maharaaj Jee. Sant Jee's example helped to rid the Panth of caste-based discrimination that was prevalent at the time, and Sant Jee and Giani Jee showed the pyaar that exists between GurSikhs. Yet these website owners still have the audacity to do nindya of Sant Attar Singh Jee. Waheguroo
  9. Waheguroo - thanks for posting this Shabad - Amazing Benti daa Shabad I also love the way Bhai Niranjan Singh Jee sings this shabad - G.Kaur - please can you do the honours and post the link to the recording? :s
  10. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Keertan is anything from Siree Guroo Granth Sahib Jee, Siree Dasam Granth Sahib Jee and Bhai Gurdaas Jee's Vaaran. I think Bhal Nand Laal Jee's Vaaran and Rehitnamae can also be classified as Keertan. Waheguroo
  11. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Naamdhari do nice keertan and are very talented, but since I found out they change Bani to suit their philosophy, I've stopped listening to their keertan. Their actions are similar to Guroo Har Rai Sahib Jee's son, Ram Rai, who Guroo Sahib refused to even see after Ram Rai changed Bani. Waheguroo
  12. Amazing Keertan - real grace and poise for such a young'un :D Plus he's well cute - lol :s Waheguroo <--- kewl new emoticon
  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! It's true though - UK Singhs and Kaurs should get out of their cliquy groups more. This is something that even members of UK sangat observe! Waheguroo
  14. STTM 2 - When will that be out? Any inside info? It's been in the testing phase for a long time now! Waheguroo
  15. BUMP Namstang Jee - the link for sakhis related to Sant Baba Karam Singh Jee appears to be broken. Could you post those sakhis in this thread please. Waheguroo
  16. UNITED SIKHS Press Release: http://www.unitedsikhs.org/PressReleases/P...01-2008-00.html High Court to determine if Sikh schoolgirl’s exclusion is illegal UNITED SIKHS and the Sikh Federation (UK) support court challenge by Sarika Singh (London – 4 January 2008) – With the backing of UNITED SIKHS and Sikh Federation (UK), the human rights group Liberty has filed a legal challenge in the High Court on behalf of 14-year-old Sarika Singh, excluded from her school for wearing a Sikh religious bangle. The High Court will consider the case during the week of 14 January. UNITED SIKHS, an international advocacy charity, will also apply to file a third party intervention. Sarika Singh was forced to have isolated school lessons for two months and has been excluded from the school in South Wales since 5 November 2007. Liberty will argue that the Aberdare Girl’s School has breached race relations and human rights laws, as well as a 25-year-old Law Lords’ decision which allows Sikh children to wear items representing their faith, including turbans, to school. Anna Fairclough, Liberty’s Legal Officer representing the Singhs, said: “Sarika Singh has suffered humiliating isolation and is being denied a proper education simply because she wears the Kara, a small bangle worn by virtually all Sikhs both in and out of school and work. It is astonishing that the school continues to exclude her despite almost universal condemnation and 25-year-old House of Lords precedent.” Singh, of mixed Welsh/Punjabi origin, has been brought up in the Sikh faith and is the only Sikh at the Aberdare Girl’s School. The school’s uniform policy prohibits the wearing of any jewelry other than a wrist watch and plain ear studs. When the school noticed that Singh was wearing the religious bangle, she was subsequently isolated throughout the day, including meals, for approximately two months. “The Kara is an article of faith which a Sikh wears from birth. It reminds a Sikh of his/her duty to lead a righteous life. In our experience, a Sikh child has always been allowed to wear a Kara to school,” said Mejindarpal Kaur, UNITED SIKHS director of International Civil Rights and Human Rights Advocacy. “We have spoken to Sarika and find her to be a balanced and confident young girl who feels let down by her school. We are very concerned that the very institution that has a duty to provide education to Sarika is undermining her, “she added. “UNITED SIKHS has instructed Human Rights lawyer, Stephen Grosz of Bindman and Partners, to file a third party intervention on our behalf as proponents of religious freedom,” added Mejindarpal Kaur. Liberty and UNITED SIKHS will argue that the Aberdare Girls School is violating the Race Relations Act 1976, the Equality Act 2006 and the Human Rights Act 1998. Liberty has requested that Singh be allowed to attend normal lessons at the school while wearing the Kara and that the school amends its uniform policy to comply with the Race Relations Act. “The Sikh Federation (UK) co-ordinated the campaign to help Sarika by helping the family in dealing with the media, liaising with politicians in Westminster e.g. Rt. Hon. Ann Clywd MP, advising on dealings with the Welsh Assembly and the local council and building up a coalition of support from a range of organizations. The coalition included the National Assembly Against Racism (NAAR) to broaden the campaign and the Coalition to defend freedom of religious and cultural expression, “said Jagtar Singh of the Sikh Federation. “The Coalition is a powerful group made up of political figures e.g. Mayor of London, religious leaders, trade unionists and human rights campaigners, “added Jagtar Singh. Notes to Editors Liberty filed the legal challenge in the High Court on 18 December 2007 which argues that the Governing Body of the Aberdare Girls School has indirectly discriminated on the grounds of race contrary to the Race Relations Act 1976; breached the duty to promote equality under s71 Race Relations Act 1976; indirectly discriminated on the ground of religion or belief contrary to the Equality Act 2006; and breached the Human Rights Act 1998 Article 8 (the right to a private life), Article 9 (freedom of religion), Article 14 (prohibition of discrimination) and Article 2 of the First Protocol which protects the right not to be denied an education. The Governing Body of the Aberdare School must lodge its defence in the High Court by 11 January 2008. The Kara (a small plain single bangle) is widely accepted as a central element or requirement of the Sikh religion and is specifically intended to be worn on the wrist as a reminder of the tenets of the faith. Valleys Race Equality Council are supporting the Singh family. In October 2006, Liberty supported the religious freedom cases of Aisah Azmi, who was suspended by the Headfield Church of England Junior School in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire for wearing the full Muslim veil, or niqab, while working as a teaching assistant and Nadia Eweida, a Christian British Airways check-in worker, who claimed she was forced to take unpaid leave after refusing to remove a small cross from her necklace. 17. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sahib Singh - who are you to judge if there are too many AKJ programs or not? How are AKJ are denying other Ragis or Kathaavachiks time?!?! Clash, as long as not done with a malicious intent, is not the end of the world. Both programs can happen simultaneously. If a program creates opportunity for Sangat, Sewa and Simran, it's all good :s Waheguroo
