  1. dear brother, equality does not mean that everything has to be the same for both genders. Women can give birth to babies, men cant.. that does not mean that God is opressing men. same way, just because men has to wear a Turban and women dont, doesnt mean one of the genders are being opressed.
  2. For Gods sake try to think beyond your narrow tribalistic feelings. Just because the Taliban showed respect for Sikhs it does not mean that we should start praising them. Fact is that they supresed women and most other religious minorities and for that alone we should consider these to be enemies of Humanity. I dont care if they even build Gurdwaras in Afghanistan, they are still villains and barbarians
  3. i think naamdharis use this as evidence of adi Granth never been given the status of Guru untill Singh sabha period.
  4. a very intersting text, thanks for sharing it with us. i was wondering, why is Guru Granth Sahib not given the title "Guru" anywhere in the text of malcolm? instead, he refers to it as Adi Granth
  5. if the bhagats were sikhs, then why is Bhagat Naamdev saying this: Page 973, Line Jasrath rāė nanḏ rājā mėrā rām cẖanḏ paraṇvai nāmā ṯaṯ ras amriṯ pījai. ||4||4|| My Sovereign Lord King is Raam Chandra, the Son of the King Dasrat'h; prays Naam Dayv, I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||4||4|| Devotee Namdev -
  6. lol.. khalistan is hilarious.. who will control it? Akj, taksal, nihangs? who+ they'll fight each other till death the day we get a state lol
  7. Seriosly i dont think that people who cant manage a Gurdwara should be allowed to have it running. then its better to keep it closed down instead of all that beadbi going on inthere.
  8. lol.. Sikhs cant even manage a Gurdwara without fighting each other, so forget about a whole nation lol
  9. i agree with V... I think satkar/respect(besides the minimum sukh assan etc) for Maharaj is a personal subjective matter, and not something that should be made rules about (for instance cremating your kesh) because then it will turn into an empty hollow ritual within days. people doing it for the sake of doing it. i think people who dont give satkar are good, but people who give satkaar is better... none of them are wrong... its like, some people say Guru Nanak, and others say Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj.. none of them are wrong, but one title is still better than the other.. but at the end of the day none of them were wrong..
  10. i think this letter has been proven false.. anyhow, it talks about 303 charitars whereas the Dasam Granth has 404
  11. There are three ways in which the body can be consumed - it can be thrown into water, given to the dogs, or cremated to ashes. Page 609, Line 11 Given to dogs it says,
  12. one thing i find funny among european sikh youngsters is that they go on and on hammering about beadbi, but they can't even have the respect to name our Guru by the full title, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, instead they go SGGS lol... whats next... Guru Tegh Bahadur under GTB ?
  13. When Guru Angad was asked to eat a dead man he did'n think of anything but to obey his master.. for this he was honored... when Panj pyare were asked to give their heads, they did so without asking any question. why would you want to question Gurbani?
  14. 1 - Due to the lacks shown in Guru Sahib (indicates he wasn't all knowing - i.e didn't know what he was getting in to Did'n Guru Gobind Singh know that the pathans would betray him? Did'n Guru Gobind Singh know that Aurangzeb would'n follow his oath on the Quran? your argument is invalid my friend .. your second argument starts with: I personally feel that the other motivations and here i rest my case.. its not upto what you think that decides if something is correct or not as you have a limited mind..
  15. why should a non-sikh bow to Guru Granth Sahib? Bowing/kneeling is an act of submission, and if a non-sikh does not submit to Guru Maharaj, then there is no point in kneeling.. it will just become an empty ritual
  16. my friend saw a man from Sindh with a picture of Guru Nanak around his neck, he was a Sindhi Sikh, but most of them are converting to hinduism now adays
  17. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh. I was reading some of the poetry of Sant Kabir which are not included in the Guru Granth Sahib and then i fell upon this shabad: RECEIVE that Word from which the Universe springeth! That word is the Guru; I have heard it, and become the disciple. How many are there who know the meaning of that word? O Sadhu! practise that Word! The Vedas and the Puranas proclaim it, The world is established in it, {p. 103} The Rishis and devotees speak of it: But none knows the mystery of the Word. The householder leaves his house when he hears it, The ascetic comes back to love when he hears it, The Six Philosophies expound it, The Spirit of Renunciation points to that Word, From that Word the world-form has sprung, That Word reveals all. Kabîr says: "But who knows whence the Word cometh? http://sacred-texts.com/hin/sok/sok58.htm Is Sant kabir here telling about the coming of Guru Nanak? for the past few months i have been wondering what the status of the bhagats of Guru Granth Sahib was,,, Were they devotees of the Gurus or did they have their own Gurus ? Bhai Gurdass vaara' confirms that the Guru of Sant Kabir was Bhagat Ramanand. Others say that the Guru of all of the Bhagats was Guru Nanak, in a hidden state, as he had not yet taken birth on earth.. He was still there to guide them as the sun still warms up the earth even though it is hidden behind the clouds. what do you guys think?
  18. Abdus salam: very interesting.. What is it about Guru Nanak that has made you come to the conclusion that he must have been a messenger of God almighty?
  19. i listen to rock music and qawali also, most of them in praise of Prophet Muhammad pbuh and Imam Ali, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is great.
  20. sikha

    Cutting Hair

Hair is the sign of the Guru, nails arent...
  21. interesting, as i have never heard this before. what janam sakhis or history books are you basing this upon?
  22. i thought it was hindu pandits and brahmans that kept the shrines of Sikhs while the sikhs were being hunted. The above article describes Sri Chand as a good character while i have always heard that he was disobedient to Guru Nanak.
  23. i did'n know that the word "sochai" was reffering to purity, and not "thinking" as most translation say, as also the word means today in modern panjabi
