  1. energy drinks arent good for regular consumption. ppl really need to educate themselves on what is in them and how it affects the body, they give you an initial boost but afterwards your body is in a worse position and will mke you feel weaker due to effects of high sugar rushes and caffine. thers alot of reserch out ther regading effects of things in the drinks. some crazy ppl compare tea to energy drinks, alot of ppl dont drink tea for the caffine, wher as a cafine energy drink is only drank for its effects. and the quantity of caffine is different in both. coffee has alot of cafine too, which isnt good. alot of old singhs didnt drink tea very often either. but having an energy drink when required, or after excerise or when u got at the end of a long shift is ok, but u will find u end up relying on it, and you will take the drinks more frequently.........there are many other ways to bring your energy levels up, one of the best wys is breathing excerises, power of breath can bring enormous and instant effects on the body.
  2. alot of people tell me that they want to be normal, and thats why they dont keep kesh. i think people dont understand whats going on here. keeping kesh is the real 'normal' Akaal purakh who has created everything is the most perfect designer, if he didnt want us to keep our hair why would he want us to cut it everyday? did he make a mistake by giving us hair? or was he giving ppl something to do every morning? i think if humans werent meant to keep hair god wudnt have given us hair. all creatures have hair/whiskers etc, they play an important part in the human body. also quite an essential requirement in spiritual development which works perfectly for followers of the sikh way of life. once you cut your kesh and regrow them, it takes about 3 years for the ends or the hairs to recover/reheal and for your body to receive energy and protiens again. Apart from the benifits of keep kesh, for which you can simply google it and see for yourself, you can never please the lord for cutting hair, no matter 'how good the mona is, or how much gurbani the mona knows' (some of the things i hear). what is worse is that alot of people cut their hair to fit INTO the main stream, or for manmat things (girls, looks etc) which is a greater sin. I aint got anything against monay but all i gota say to my fellow human bros n sis is be yourself, be human. God wasnt losing it when he made us with hair, we are in HIS roop afterall. Guru Gobind Singh Ji just laid it down for us lost souls. Bhul chuk di kima
  3. Sangat Ji Could you help me get this shabad, i found it once but then spent hours trying to find it again n couldnt!!??? Its Eh Rasna or Ai Rasna......... Thank you
  4. You could put your matresses on the floor, so you are lower than guru ji, this way ur children will also be comfortable. Its all about your sharda, i would defo sleep on the floor and would not sleep above guru ji if i had such a privilage of having maharaj at home.
  5. Guru ji in the first saroop knew that they would give the gurgaddi to the Granth sahib, the first most obvious evidence was given to sikhs by Guru Amar Das ji. Guru Gobind Singhs ji Maharaj were not under any sort of pressure or difficulty so which they had to pass the gur gaddi to the Guru Granth Sahib ji, the shabad Guru. There are many misconceptions , we often underestimate Guru Sahib.
  6. is there going to be a rally in london? or is there anything we can do to stop the gov carrying out the sentences?????
  7. I want to be part of the dharti where such chardi kala singhs have walked, where mosto f the worlds spiritual people were born.............................. obviously theres alot of bad things happened in india (lolts n lots of bad stuf), but everything is ther, the 5 takhats are there and so much more so i will always want to be part of that.................and not of a country who takes pride in its drink culture and its cities are simply known for the number of night clubs etc.............
  8. God didnt give us hair on our heads or beards for that matter just to get up everymorning and shave it off........................... if god created man in his perfection then we should leave our body in that perfection. and i think god who is the most perfect maker of things would have saved us the hassle by stopping hair growing, right now from what little knowledge iv got, there is not a living creature on this planet which doesnt have hair, in some sort or form, so no points for guessing it has some significance. it is also true that we can gain alot more energy and there is a science behind how it works, it can only be experienced by not cutting it, dont take me word for it. i also think that the guru gave us everything becos he knew all the faces, science can only prove us correct. but sometimes this takes alot longer as humans can go off track or get it wrong, eventually when we get it right, we look back and say, oh in sikhi we already keep our kesh, wear dastar to benefit the skull, do cold ishnaan, get up at amrit vela, meditate, be vegitarian ....all these things science has proved, but not on a wide scale, once the benifits are wide spread, all mankind will be doing it, it is the only possible path left, humans are dying/ over stressed/ getting diseases becos they dont know how to live......... bhul chuk maf karna
  9. there are hundreds and hundreds of people taking amrit in india, ask those who are in the panj piyaray.................becos there is a big misconception that sikhi is failing........... after so much that happened............ but i found that you get more respect in india for being keshdhari, and about ppl staring, they do that anyway, and more if they can see you from abroad.
  10. The way i can see it, and i could be wrong, is that if we are not able to commit to the guru ie take amrit, follow rehit and accept the guru. then why do we want to have an anand karaj to get married, why not just do a registry. another thing is, just cos our ancestors or we are from a sikh background it doesnt mean we gota go to the gurudwara or do sikh ceromonies. Wats the point of doing things , in that sense we are performing rituals. Sikhi isnt about numbers, when guru gobind singh ji called out before 50 000 + sangat, only 5 came forward, if the guru says rehit is most important then we shud leave it at that and understand, thers nothing to be confused about.............
  11. The mulsims claimed guru nanak was theirs the hindus claimed he was theirs, the ridhs , sidhs yogis, and everywher guru sahib went, so the people claimed he was theirs and he was, after all he is the sat guru for mankind and you would be a fool to not say he is your own..............let not slander other faiths, guru sahib distinguished them selves from religion and people cant change the truth so lets not become papis by our reaction but just focus on Guru nanaks message ourselves
  12. do not worry paji, god and guru may be silent, but they are not deaf and they are not ignoring you, your ardas will be enough, your problem is not as big as the less fortunate. so live in gods will and enjoy the bliss of living in perfection
  13. Fateh everyone, if i was to order a tabla set from punjabi roots website what quality will it be? is it a 'okayish' just until i got to india or someone i know goes etc, and then ill get summat better. thanks for the advice from everyone, i find the more i learn about em, the harder it becomes to find the best one.,lol
  14. fateh ji, i need some too, maybe we can order together to save the costs, or with a few ppl, cos i dont know anywhere in the uk that does em and want to get some too
  15. if you read mool mantar and japji sahib you will find out about your question, god is above ego.
  16. [q Get ready for a potential rise in nationalism and hatred towards "brown" foreigners. yea, ur right, its kinda gonna bring support for the bnp etc even people who accept multiculturism wil begin to have doubts, if things keep going s they are, i would put it past the government having a hand in it , they got their agendas and hands in conspiricies
  17. we cannot hate muslims. i agree there may not be a need for the spending of so much money, im with you on that, and by all means people can sign the petition and in a free country this is what happens.and i urge others not to hate but the time you will spend in hell just for putting these posts up will be unbearable for you. beg for forgivness, he is ever forgiving God sees us as one people, and in this day and age any path to the divine truth should not be condemed.
  18. I just finished a Post Grad course and most of the goray/kalay didn't know what Sikhs were. I also think that of all religious studies field trips most people go to Gurdwaras. Also Sikhism is briefly touched on in all courses. It is the daily one to one meetings between SIkhs and the wider public that matter the most in my opinion. A few weeks ago I was on the tube and some middle aged man with his wife was sitting next to me - she looked concerned and was saying something to him - he turned around and said "but he is Sikh" and nodded towards my kara. So a few people do know. I also think that the indigenous people in the UK are quite suspicious and not very keen on religions full stop. I think this gets reflected in the media. We are no exceptions. I'm just wondering if some major terrorist attack takes place - will it effect us? How? Knowing goray - if we come all scared saying "please don't mistake us" they will have even less respect for us. Whatever our response it should not be one that is reflecting fear. I suggest we all try and be more open and make more friends from the indigenous population. This is hard sometimes as some just want to hate. But seeing as the media is about as reliable as the weather here, I can't see them being of much help. its not about being cowards, being scared or anything to do with fear. ..... thats not my intention anyway, our father is the guru and we live in akal purakhs hukam , we do not fear death. the reason for the leaflets, is to create awareness, so people know who sikhs are and dont fear us and understand who we are , this doesnt mean we accept hate crime on muslims becos more people from ther faith are terrorists, we condem all violence on innocents, even the back lash on innocent muslims. another reason is people should be aware for the protection of the young and elderly..........
  19. Sat Naam everyone I came across this site http://www.satnaam.info/ at first i was like wow, there is just so much info one ther, i didnt pay too much attention, i just saw all the different articles, and i was thinking , 'wow i can learn from all this' but after a few days i went back and when i was reading a few articles, i felt a bit ucomfortable when a great emphasis was given to bow to saints and how they are 'god' and god is in the saint etc, then today i was reading a different article and it said about how the saint is equal and some saints are greater than the gurus!!!! then i was like there is something seriously wrong here, then i found out it is a site of Darshan Das............... i was shocked how this information wasnt really there when you come onto the home page, so no one really knows until they find out in the articles and stories. i felt really mislead about this and thought i should bring it to peoples attention................ i duno if sangat already knows about this..............
  20. in newcastle we have had several schools visit the gurudwara, as part of the religious studies, we even made langar of chips n beans for the kids sometimes maybe more gurudwaras should open up to the communities, im sure many already do. one problem a school had was they had been riging for weeks and the sevadar didnt understand them, and kept telin them to phone later, then eventually they got the number of a commitee guy and then the commitee people werent organised, so then they got in touch with the sikh society and we had to bring em to our local gurudwara .............so sangat should be aware, many people from the community will directly contact the gurudwara, so a system should be in place where the appropriate person can be informed or someone can deal with isues quickly. every little helps
  21. we should try to sort this out ourselves, and with the help of all the uk sikh organisations, and put presure on national news papers, just to even once mention the mistaken identity issue, and who sikhs are and the turban. i have contacted my local area paper several times and they just ignore me regarding this, they just dont wana talk about it. I rekon if we can get a national news paper, several radio stations and maybe a news channel then at least we can reach a larger audience. This with a leaflet campaign all over the uk, maybe a set standard one, or he several going about already, should at least help us out a bit. I have had several confrontations, which have been increasing constantly every month when im out in public places and even in the shop and once i explain about me not being a taliban and a terrorist and that we were turbans and the reasons theyve just walked of or apologised. My brother got threatened with a golf club by a goray the other day, due to mistaken identity this was in our local area where we thought people knew us well, but my brother didnt back down and dared the gora, when the gora realised there was no fear in my bro he stopped in his tracks and realised he met his match, but when my brother told him about sikhs then he apologised and ran down the street into his house........ I urge vunerable sikhs to be armed with some sort of protection and if attacked, defend the honour of sikhi and our kesh and dastar, becos some people are very ingnorant, and will pick on someone vunerable .....................there are no limits of a people whose culture is to eat all animals and drink alcohol (not all goray/kalay/ haray/nilay) Does anyone know which uk organisations could be willing to help, we have alot who already work with media and government who could be very helpful if they want to ................ this goes for other countries to do similar campaigns. Iv been using a leaflet fom SS in the shop, and im getting some done to put in the civic centre, libraries, and give some to schools, colleges, round universities, and basically any public place where i can put a leaflet.
  22. wow this is awesome, iv just went through and saved each one, shame it wasnt in a pdf or easier to download for people, its a good document to get out to the sangat thanksss
  23. im from newcastle, but ill travel anywhere in the uk if need be, but after some advice on here and off here, i might be tempted to just wait and get one from india, still not sure, but im thanks for the help, i guess i gota find some one who plays to help me get one. i wont be going to india until feb i think so its gona be a long wait...... the real shame is some people have been trying to flog old ones off to me and other members of the sangat loll no wonder .............im gona stick to it, so will try to get a good one and look after it.
