LOL.gifLOL.gifLOL.gifLOL.gif damn man these politicians make me laugh just looks as though they have forgot about sikhs full spot, charles clarke and tony blair the big eared monkey freaks have yet to mention ANY statements reagarding Sikhs same with other ppl in iin similar positions.

You insulting them is really going to make them want to speak up for you, ey? Your enthusiasm in doing so really makes it seem as though you believe that.

No excuses can be made for the government not talking about Sikhs as well, but if Sikhs had created enough awareness, enough of a name for ourselves, made an impression of what we are truly like, perhaps so many people wouldn't be taking such hateful action against us. This is in no way an attack on Sikhs, as sometimes there are certain conditions which may not let us do so.

Although we should demand our right and have the government include us in all and any statements claiming the innocence of religions as a whole, we should also try our best to make more of an effort to clarify ourselves, our aims, who we are as a people, as a faith in the future.

in the ' sikhs are not taliban'

' These people are NOT SIKHS but are in fact Muslims. '

I dont think theyre muslims either! As they are clearly going against the teachings of Islam!

We dont want ignorant ppl to start attacking innocent muslims, its the certain groups that need to be dealt with.

Whats the sangats view.

Just read through a few articles and this is the one I liked best, its from the Sunday times and this note left by some one at one of the scenes of the bomb blast, beats what the mayor of London said, as he never mentioned the Sikhs.

article taken from "Sunday Times"

Jesse Honey, a student from Tooting, south London, stuck a Union Jack flag to the wall above the floral tributes. Across the middle of it he had written “we are all Londoners” and around the side the names of the major faiths — Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Muslim, Buddhism and Jewish.

“I think it’s more important now than ever to emphasise the fact that Londoners come from all (faiths) and there is absolutely no way that the attack will change that,” he said.

I saw something on the news yesterday about police patrols being stepped up around mosques. No mention of similar patrols for Gurdwara.

Interesting that the SS Mann Akali Dal have made comments. Wonder where they get their information from becasue according to the Sikh Fed release there was no fire just an attempt in which a window was broken but Jagmohan Singh reckons there was a fire.

Violence in UK: SAD (A) appeals for restraint

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, July 9

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has appealed to the Sikhs all over the world to exercise utter restraint and not get provoked by hate violence which has reportedly erupted in some parts of England following bomb blasts in London a few days ago.

Prof Jagmohan Singh, General Secretary of the SAD (Amritsar), said it was unfortunate that Sikhs also became the target of hate violence as a Gurdwara in Kent in England was set on fire by a violent mob protesting against London bomb attacks this morning.

A mosque in Leeds was also set on fire. Professor Jagmohan Singh said it was time for the minorities to exercise utter restraint and do not get provoked by the actions of those who were out to exploit the situation created by the bomb attacks.

The SAD (Amritsar) has already condemned London bomb attacks.

HATE CRIMES DATABASE FOR UK SIKHS

Following the tragic events of Thursday 7 July in London and the growing reports of hate crimes against Sikhs it is important for the community to have basic information on the level, type and location of these crimes. This information will help Sikhs lobby the authorities to take appropriate actions as they appear to be currently failing the Sikh community.

A hate crime is when someone attacks another person verbally, via mail or email, or perhaps physically, and the crime is driven by the attacker's prejudice against a particular group of people. While more hate crime is verbal than physical, that does not mean it's not serious, or very upsetting for the person being harassed.

What should you do if it happens to you or someone you know?

Don't retaliate: you could risk violence or make the situation worse.

Do tell someone about it: hate crime is inexcusable and should be dealt with as soon as possible. If you're at school or college, tell a teacher or staff member what has happened and they'll help you sort it out and help you decide whether you want to inform the police.

In any situation, it's your right to go to the police, report a crime and have it investigated. If you're scared to go to the police there are hundreds of third-party reporting sites. These places are community centres, other public places including some Gurdwaras where you can discuss your situation with a person trained to fill in a crime form to notify the police. You can even notify the police of a non-urgent crime over the internet.

Many Sikhs are not on email therefore feel free to report second hand on any hate crimes that you become aware of in your locality.

Please visit: http://www.sikh-secretariat.com/sikh_incident_form.htm

to fill in a simple incident form.

The information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Note: The Sikh Secretariat has been asked to co-ordinate collation of the information so it can be used for the benefit of the Sikh community in getting the authorities to take this issue much more seriously.

TV crews were present at the Kent Gurdwara today because the gang who threw the fire bomb were caught yesterday night in a pub, police made the arrest last night and a friend of mine was at the gurdwara today while the pardaan was interviewed by the TV crews which was recorded today but I don’t know what news channel or what time this will be on the news, but I hope this also will explain to the public that Sikhs and Muslims are different.

Fateh.
