Hello to all,

I have just read this and it has made my blood boil .

I have to ask the committee who organised this venue. As Sikhs in charge of a hall

Belonging to the godwara/house of our guru’s u lot allowed meat and alcohol to be served there?...........................

IF THE GORA GUESTS WANTED STRIP GIRLS ALSO.

WOULD U HAVE ACCOMMODATED THEIR REQUEST. ???

As far as the guests were concerned we Sikhs do celebrate in good style.

Should they think that when we celebrate any of our guru’s birthday or what ever,

That we have MEAT AND DRINKS ON THOES OCCASIONS ALSO.

LET me put u northern Sikhs straight, meat and drinks on godwara premises

DO NOT happen in the south…………or i hope not.

If any one is offended, I hope so.

When will they learn U DO NOT have places named after Sikhs gurus and have that sort of things happening there….

Sri guru nanak Casino’s ????????????????!!!!!!!!!!

Pls reply..

I think it's important the we show our support, for Bhai Sahib Jaswinder Singh ji

who is locked up in prison pending his hearing.

We urgently need to get the Lemington sangat to put pressure on those involved in dropping the charges and getting Bhai sahib out.

Spread the word. We can't forget him for his seva..

If you think Uhbi was doing SEVA by beating up old men then you need your head testing, if he had an issue he should of constructivly approached the commitee, not commit a serious offence. How can this man justify his actions and call him self a SIKH.........By the way another person was arrested last night in connection to this fracas........let hope the others get caught and are prosecuted.

The SIKH community has no room for these kind of people.

if the older generation are drinkin in the gurudwara buildings what example are they setting to the youth.

True blind violence is not needed and is not what our Guru Ji teaches us,

they should have approached the commitee and dont it peacefully and if they did not listen then it is only righteous to raise the sword................. literally.

current gurdwara committee needs to be booted NOW... obviously sangat is against their actions... they can call a re-election and get new members on the committee if the majority of the sangat decides they need a change... everybody needs to be educated on how to respect Guru Jee... so get the sangat to call another election...

and it shouldn't be an election per say.. alll members who wish to be put on the committee should put their names in a box or something... all members should be amritdhari gursikhs (and not just some peepz who put on kirpaans and do all this nonsense on the side)... the box should be put infront of Guru Jee... and the SANGAT (NOT the candidates) should go up 1 by 1 and pick out names out of the box... that way it is GURU JEE deciding who's on the committee and not us moorakhs...

this system should be implemented in EVERY gurdwara... no matter how big or how small...

and 2 years?... are u kidding me?.. what kinda bullcrap is that... why 2 yearS? did they say why? tha's nonsense...

parwindersingh and all sikhs :T:

Sikhs around the world take a look at how we in England respect sggs and the gurudwara. Of our guru’s.

It is a true mockery in all respect that in our teachings we are not supposed to

Drink alcohol and feast on dead animals yet we take great pride in it.

Shame on those that partook in the farce.

Shame on those that saw and did not do any thing.

I feel truly sorry for them. for they do not know what they are doing

To cause offence. Is any one proud that this sort of things still happen..

no.gif  :) @ grin.gif

quick question when they have the 5 pyara in these gurudwareas do they serve

big mac's ????

APPRECIATE WHAT A SIKH IS FIRST THEN MAYBE YOU WILL GET YOUR STATEMENT CORRECT.

I think you mean,

"The PUNJABI community has no room for these people".

Hope that doesnt offend you But, if Sikhi forbids it, then how can the SIKH community allow it? And b in support of it?

I just find it so hard to believe that if this was in india, if this was 10yrs ago, 20yrs ago, we would all be running around getting hoodies and tshirt mades in memory of people. All Bhai Sahib did is the seva in which he thought was required to stop Beabdi.

A Gursikh, according to rehit!! Does ardaas for Guidance before doing any task. Therefore im sure, Bhai Sahib, Being Amritdhari, which according to GURBANI, is a definition of a sikh.... would have done ardaas infront of maharaj first. Then the rest is in accordance maharajs hukham.

Therefore if we really call ourselves sikhs, then why are we not accepting what happened as his will? WHy are we crying over it? Old men is the favourite. Are these old men british born? If so then yeh i guess they would be fragile... But from experience from Gurdwaras accross the country, old men are typically from India and Africa. These people would have been beaten and battered daily at school and home. To them its second nature, toughens the skin and the mind. Therefore i personally, wouldnt say they are as inocent or as feeble as is made out?

Bhai Fauja Singh. A Great Example - the runner, not the shaheed.

he is what? 93 or something? look at him!! He can out run most of us!! Probably even if we did it as a relay!! old guys arnt like us! they lived life, we life cushy cosy luxary lives.

They might be old, but doesnt mean they are innocent.

As everyone keeps saying they hope the people who did the attack pay. Fair statement. But how about the ones who committed the real crimes? If you commit a crime in a country, the country's legal system will deal with you. If you commit a crime in accordance to anti-Gurmat practices, who deals with you? Maharaj yeh. But then, he has his own police officers, the Khalsa army. Therefore he uses these people to deal with his worldly affairs.

I dont agree with what happened, but its happened, crying about it now is not going to make things any better, its not going to change what happened.

THEREFORE if the people who claim to be Sikhs, really are Sikhs, they will do Ardaas to maharaj. And Maharaj will only follow the one done with a pure heart. Therefore let HIM decide the fate of people.

Apologies if i have offended anyone, not my intention. Just a few points that need to be made from an outsider perspective.

PRESS RELEASE (SENT TO THE SIKH TIMES, DES PARDES, AWAZE QAUM & PANJAB TIMES)

RESPECTING SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI

Saturday 19 November 2005 - Sikhs the world over have in the last couple of weeks been marking the 536th Birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji the founder of Sikhism and first of the 10 Sikh Gurus.  At a time when we are facing many challenges we should be using this celebration to remind ourselves of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teaching that all men and women are equal and worthy of respect and that we all have a duty of service to our fellow human beings.

The Gurdwara is the 'House of God' where the Guru Granth Sahib Ji dwells.  Sikhs believe that the highest authority is God, and that his truth is revealed through the Gurus and is contained in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.  Since the scriptures take the place of the living Guru, the Guru Granth Sahib Ji is treated with the utmost respect and is central to the Sikh way of life.

Visitors to a Gurdwara will be aware that the Guru Granth Sahib Ji occupies the most revered place, covered with a rumalla, resting on cushions on a dais, with a canopy above it.  A member of the congregation remains in constant attendance and waves a chaur.  The worshippers enter the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji without shoes and with heads covered. They bow before the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and touch the floor with their heads before sitting down. All these actions are symbolic of the importance of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.  These are the marks of respect shown to the teachings contained in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Following last weeks' incidence at Leamington Gurdwara there has been considerable debate regarding the consumption of alcohol and meat in the Gurdwara building and the disturbance that resulted due to this sacrilege.  Alcohol or meat should never be brought into, let alone consumed, in a Gurdwara.  To do so is highly disrespectful and flies in the face of the respect otherwise shown by Sikhs and non-Sikhs to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and described above.

The disturbance that resulted in Leamington due to the sacrilege in the Gurdwara should have been avoided as the type of violence that has been reported has resulted in immense personal insult and shown the Sikh community in a negative light.  Due to some poor media reporting and irresponsible discussions on the Internet the Leamington Gurdwara situation has become highly charged with accusations and counter accusations.

The Sikh Federation (UK) wrote to James Plaskitt MP on 14 November, as it was reported he was present at the Gurdwara and caught up in the disturbance.  Many have either assumed he was not aware that alcohol and meat is strictly prohibited in Gurdwaras or was misled because of the actions of those that run the Gurdwara, who should know much better.  The Federation set out in detail how and why Sikhs respect the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and wrote to him again today (19 November), requesting him to clarify his position following a number of media reports.  At the time of issuing this press release no response had been received.

Any Sikh worthy of the name will know alcohol and meat is strictly prohibited in Gurdwaras. Therefore, this situation should have been avoided.  There has been an inevitable increase in hostility with the potential for further violence. The situation must be resolved through dialogue with the Sadh Sangat of Leamington having a huge responsibility to ensure everyone pays the utmost respect to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and avoid this type of situation in the future.
