Guru Gobind Singh Ji writes in Bchittar Natak :

CHAUPAI

When I created the world in the beginning, I created the ignominious and dreadful Daityas/Jhamdhoots.

Who became mad with power and abandoned the worship of Supreme Purusha.6.

I destroyed them in no time and created gods in their place.

They were also absorbed in the worship of power and called themselves Ominipotent.7.

Clearly these dhaitas and jhamdhoots are not the five vices you talk about but actual life forms. If you want to deny this then that is your choice.

These were stories created by Guruji to explain to frightened little Hindu's the universe interms they would undertsnad. Clearly You understand the Universe in these terms, wheras Guruji was far above this.

yes randip singh ji, there are shabdhs about how heaven and hell can be on this earth, but there many shabdhs telling us the reality of hell. do not slander the guru by dismissing this! this would be a great sin! i've seen both types of shbds and i know they are both correct, gurbani is 100% truth.

dont pick a part of gurbani, look at the whole of it!

Excuse me!!!!!!!

Before you dare accuse me of slandering the Guru point our where I have? Sikhs do not have a concept of sin (that is a Semetic notion). Sometimes Good people are called on to do bad things (eg kill people in battle).

I am not picking on little parts but presenting entire texts unlike Bandha who does not even put page numbers and quotes three or four line to further his own New Age Brahmin agenda.

CHAUPAI

When I created the world in the beginning, I created the ignominious and dreadful Daityas.

Jab pahile ham sristtee banaaoo|| Daoot rache dust dukhdaaoo||

Who became mad with power and abandoned the worship of Supreme Purusha.6.

Te bhuj bal bavre hvai gae|| Poojat Param Purakh raih gae||6||

I destroyed them in no time and created gods in their place.

Te ham tamak(i) tanak mo khaape|| Tin koo thaur devtaa thaape||

They were also absorbed in the worship of power and called themselves Ominipotednt.7.

Te bhoo bal(i) poojaa urjhaae|| aapan hoo Parmesar kahaae||7||

Mahadeo (Shiva) was called Achyuta (blotless), Vishnu considered himself the Supreme.

Mahaadev achutt kahnyo|| Bisan aap hoo ko thahiraayo||

Brahma called himself Para Brahman, none could comprehend the Lord.8.

Brahmaa aap Paarbrahm bakhaanaa|| Prabh ko Prabhoo na kinhoon jaanaa||8||

Hope this helps.

If anyone wants to know what Guru Sahib Ji thinks of Mohommad/Koran/Vedas/purans then read Bachittar Natak.

The above chaupai goes on to say that Mohommad was created and all he did was become raja of Arabia and got all the rajay to be circumcised and set himself up as a demigod, Reading the Koran or Purans leads to nothing .

The key point you have missed out is that Shiva, Achutya and Vishnu all became victims of Kaal or Time....therefore how could they be gods? Guruji is stating clearly these were Gods in name only and were mere men like Mohammed.

Sorry Randip Ji, Guru Sahib Ji never "create stories" for Guru Ji only speaks the Truth, always. If these were mere stories then they would be false, and Guru Ji would never repeats anything false.

Tell me, Guru Sahib Ji recounts his own previous life on Hemkund Sahib mountain, is this also a mere story ?

No, Randip Ji I think you have missed the point. ShivJi, Brahama, Vishnu were not mere men. They were/are Dhevtay and as such have a special status. But in the end they all succomb to Kaal, there is no doubt about that.

Interesting you say that the stories of the Guru's were false.

Stories are made to illustrate a point, and metaphors are used to illustrate a point.

Being false or true is neither here nor there.

Now if I were a Brahmin fearing Hindu who had been taught abbout demi-gods and jamdoots etc, the onlY way I would understand Guruji's point would be through stories and legends I was familiar with. Yes to the average Hindu they were very real, but Guruji knew that he had to destroy this superstitious clap trap and does so by saying they were all victims of time I.e. they died.

Tell me, Guru Sahib Ji recounts his own previous life on Hemkund Sahib mountain, is this also a mere story ?

147601

Yes a common misconception used by Arya Samaji’s to make out Guruji worshipped Siva. Clearly a gross mis-interpretation of Guruji’s metaphor of what his purpose was on this earth.

Bal Singh of sikh-history.com, described this beautifully as Guruji description of life in the womb.

You are contradicting yourself!

How can immortal beings die, unless of course they are not immortal? make your mind up, which is it?

In many ways this reminds me of Bible thumpers who claim Jesus is the only son of God!

randip singh, please dont use gurbani to follow your views, look at the shabahds with an open mind and see what guru ji is telling us. bundu and randip singh are infact BOTH right, in a sense. three types of hell:

away from waheguru

8.4 million joon

a real terrible hell where punishments are carried out

this earth can be like heaven or hell, but there as the reality of heavens and hells in dharam khand.

Some have gone to hell, and some yearn for paradise.

jamdhoots carry out punishments:

Those who have not obtained the Sublime Essence of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, are most unfortunate; they are led away by the Messenger of Death.

The more they walk away, the deeper it pierces them, and the more they suffer in pain, until finally, the Messenger of Death smashes his club against their heads. ||2||

AND THIS SHABDH EVEN SHOWS US HOW HELL IS A REALITY:

All the creatures got liberated from hell and the noose of death was cut. Liberation and the technique of attaining it are the servants of the name of the Lord.

147434

Sorry had to laugh at

bundu and randip singh

I disagree.

You say

All the creatures got liberated from hell and the noose of death was cut. Liberation and the technique of attaining it are the servants of the name of the Lord.

So these people went to a place call hel and then they were liberated?

NO!

Once you are in hell you are in hell for eternity. What Guruji is describing is the physical hell we create for ourselves here and now.

found this interesting tukh page page 214 Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji

As the Guru has taught me, so have I spoken.

Says Nanak, listen, people: sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and you shall be saved. ||4||1||158||

Interesting that Guruji describes heaven and hell in the same breath as well as incarnation? :)

hell isnt eternal as the christians believe it, so that shabdh about those being freed from hell isnt a lie. doing naam simran, while doing good, will save us from any type of hell.

guru ji is telling us that you are reborn many times and end up in heaven or hell after each death. so a warning to do naam simran. but this is for debate what guru ji means in this actual shabdh. but i already told you yes ther is heaven and hell on this eartch but there's also a physical hell and heaven after death. so you dont need to prove your belief of heaven and hell being on earth, the debate is whether there is are real hells and heavens after death.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
