Banned or not, i wouldnt say these groups were terrorist organisation. For example, ISYF's aims were:

1. To promote Sikh philosophy and the Sikh way of life.

2. To promote and preserve the Sikh heritage and culture.

3. To speak out against Human Rights violations.

4. To act as a voice of the oppressed Sikhs of India.

5. To peacefully work towards establishing an independent homeland for the Sikhs - Khalistan.

Despite allegations of assassinations, bombings and kidnappings by the ISYF since the 1980s not a single example from the last 16 years could be provided. Therefore, no evidence was presented to show the ISYF carried out any attacks.

Freedom fighters are always going to be labeled as terrorists by India and there the ones that pushed to get these people/groups banned elsewhere.

"one person's terrorist is another person's freedom-fighter"

Well said.

Further more these groups are about liberating one's homeland from oppressive forces. They are not like the like's of the islamist groups who call for the killings of non-believers ethnic and religious cleasening etc, etc.

Those 2 groups were only banned after much pressure and lobbying from the Indian government in return for financial deals and stronger econonmic ties. If in the future these ties are cut because of some diplomatic incident, I gurantee these groups will not only be un-banned but aided by western govt's to look out for their own interests.

Hi, Sikhs are da'mn good guys! Just as much as any other 'type' of guys'. We also have our own 'bad guys' or guys with misplaced notions. Just as much as any other 'type' of guys. NO TRUE SIKH CAN BE A TERRORIST -THE GURU AND THE GRANTH DOES NOT ALLOW IT AT ALL. THEY TEACH LOVE,TOLERANCE, FORGIVENESS & PROTECTION OF THE WEAK AND DEFENCELESS! HOW CAN SUCH PEOPLE BE TERRORISTS WHO STRIKE FEAR BY TARGETTING THE WEAK? . Some bad guys amongst us CAN NOT MAKE US us all bad.ON THE CONTRARY THEY WILL RECTIFY THEMSELVES. SOME GUYS CALLING US BAD DOES NOT MAKE US SO - UNLESS WE THINK SO. All The Best Do your research without any such mental tensions or unnecessary thoughts, WAHE GURU will guide you through and show you the way ahead - ALWAYS . HAVE FAITH . DK.

If you think That the people who belong to the group BKI, are freedom fighters then why did they kill so many youngsters with their families. THE WORD FREEDOM FIGHTER MEANS THE ONE WHO FIGHTS FOR THE INNOCENT & NOT ONE WHO KILLS THE INNOCENT. If you don't beleieve me then ask the mother or father who lost their child or children because of them. Or a person who lost his / her family because of these people.
